William Shatner Celebrates His 94th With Special Tradition

William Shatner, the legendary Star Trek actor, turned 94 on March 22, and he’s marking the occasion in the same heartfelt way he has for the past 35 years.

William Shatner revealed to PEOPLE that he continues to celebrate his birthday by supporting The Hollywood Charity Horse Show, an event that has raised millions of dollars for children and veterans.

“For the last many years, I have celebrated my birthday by working on a very successful charity called The Hollywood Charity Horse Show. We have been doing it for 35 years and raised millions of dollars for children and veterans,” William Shatner said.

In addition to his charitable work, William Shatner’s birthday plans this year include a family trip to Las Vegas. “My family is taking me to Las Vegas for dinner and a show, and then back to Los Angeles,” he shared. “It’s going to be a family experience in that wonderful, entertaining city. I’m really looking forward to it.”

William Shatner has had an illustrious career spanning decades, and even at 94, he continues to remain active in the industry. Last year, he celebrated his 93rd birthday by attending the premiere of his documentary, You Can Call Me Bill, in Los Angeles. The documentary delves into his life and career, offering an intimate look at the man behind some of television and film’s most iconic roles.

Reflecting on the process of promoting the documentary, William Shatner admitted it felt “a little awkward.” He explained, “It’s a documentary about me, and I’m expected to help sell it by going out and talking about me, and I don’t like to talk about me.”

However, he took the project seriously, considering the lasting impact it would have on his family. “In doing a serious film, that, in the end, my children and my children’s children watch, I didn’t want to be facetious or marginal about any of the answers,” he said.

You Can Call Me Bill is currently available on Apple TV, offering fans an in-depth look at William Shatner’s incredible journey from Star Trek icon to real-life astronaut.

Despite his decades in the spotlight, William Shatner remains dedicated to philanthropy, family, and entertainment—proving that even at 94, he shows no signs of slowing down.
