Idris Elba’s new Apple TV+ drama Hijack is sure to get your heart pumping and your brain guessing. Read on to find out why Hijack needs to be on your binge list.
If you aren’t watching Hijack yet, you’re missing out! But don’t worry, we’ve got all the reasons why you should catch up! Only three episodes of the show have been released, with the fourth dropping on July 12th, so there is plenty of time to get caught up before the season really kicks into high gear.
Thoughtful Storytelling
Who is watching Idris’ new show “Hijack” on Apple+?!! Because we have to talk about what this pilot did to his co-pilot.

It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the crafting of each passenger on flight KA29. The plot of the series is driven by conflicting character motivations. More than one passenger hurts another, not out of malice, but for the good of another. Even the hijackers are multi-dimensional, each having their own limits on the violence they’re willing to inflict. These morally imperfect characters keep you guessing from episode to episode.
Action Packed

You might wonder how much action could take place in the confines of a squished commercial jet. Well, the answer is lots. Heads are being busted, kids are going missing, shots are being fired, and covert messages are being secreted across cabins; there aren’t many moments of calm. If you’re in the mood for some really clever tension-building moments involving napkins, Hijack is the series for you.
The Cliffhangers
The ending to todays #hijack is great, such a shame the cliff hanger has been somewhat lost in the streaming era

The cliffhangers on this show are very good, plain and simple. At the end of each episode, you are left wanting, no, needing to know what happened. Hijack’s cliffhangers have sparked discussion online about the nature of binge-watching vs. weekly releases. For better or for worse, Apple TV’s choice not to drop all seven episodes at once definitely keeps us coming back week after week. The end of episode 3 is especially heart-pounding, so keep an eye out for that one!

If the above didn’t convince you to give Hijack a chance, then Idris Elba will. We already have a sweet spot in our hearts for Elba because he killed it as Mr. Beyoncé’s Husband in Obsessed circa 2009. Then he voiced Chief Bogo in the endlessly charming, and Oscar-winning, Zootopia. Elba doesn’t disappoint here either. As Sam Nelson, Elba is the ultimate rock in a storm. He plays it cool at the perfect times, keeps an air of mystery about him, and reveals his tender side right when you need him to. What a dreamboat!
