24-year-old Daisy Jones was born in London to Wendy Edgar and Philip Jones. Her father Philip is director of Sky Arts and head of entertainment at Sky. At the young age of seven, Daisy was cast as Anne Boleyn in her school play. Her parents were shocked to see their reserved daughter excel portraying quite the opposite. They began to take her admiration for performance more seriously.
Daisy first crossed our radars with her portrayal of Marianne in Hulu’s steamy romance series, Normal People. The series, adapted from the Sally Rooney novel, was a pandemic staple, earning Daisy a Golden Globe nomination. Normal People began the trend for Edgar-Jones’ literary-adaptation-filled resume. As a lover of literature herself, Edgar-Jones is fit for the role of bringing beloved book characters to life on screen.

Following her stellar breakout performance in Normal People, Daisy starred as Noa in the dark comedy thriller Fresh, alongside the Winter Soldier – we mean Sebastian Stan. According to an interview with GQ, it was actually Daisy’s attachment to Fresh that convinced the critically acclaimed actor to join the cast. Fresh had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to receive positive reviews from critics.

Daisy’s most recent role to grace our screens is in the FX on Hulu miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven. She portrays Brenda Lafferty, a Mormon woman who was murdered alongside her baby. Under the Banner of Heaven also stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon detective investigating the killings.
If you haven’t seen Daisy in any of these previous roles, now is a great time to catch up. Her most recent work arrives in theatres on July 15th in Where the Crawdads Sing, a mystery drama film, based on the novel by Delia Owens and produced by Reese Witherspoon on behalf of her woman-centered production company, “Hello Sunshine”.
