Tyler, the Creator, one of the top rappers and producers, just released his eighth studio album Chromakopia on October 28, 2024—and fans are already buzzing with reactions.

Featuring collaborations with artists like Daniel Caesar, Doechii, and GloRilla, the album stands out for its eclectic instrumentation and raw, reflective lyrics. Praised for its bold style and unique sound, Chromakopia debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking Tyler, the Creator’s third time reaching this spot. Fans can’t stop talking about this incredible album, and here’s some fun afterbuzz.

A Grand Comeback

Chromakopia is Tyler, The Creator’s grand comeback, and it’s shaping up to be his biggest debut yet. The album’s release pushed Tyler, the Creator to the top of Spotify’s Global Top Artists Chart, where he held the #1 spot for three straight days. In terms of total days at #1, he ranks second, with our pop queen Taylor Swift holding the top position for 298 days.

Deep Resonnation

Fans are feeling a deep connection to Chromakopia, with many sharing how closely it resonates with their own lives. Even Tyler, the Creator himself admitted that this is his most resonant album yet, marking the first time he’s created something that aligns so closely with the experiences of his life.

Hey Jane

Tyler, The Creator has fans buzzing about the track “Hey Jane”, which delves into the complexities of an unplanned pregnancy.  In a candid dialogue, Tyler, the Creator voices both his perspective and that of a woman named “Jane”, using the first verse to express his own fears and then responding as “Jane” in the second. Fans were caught off guard by the depth of the lyrics, which reflect on the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood.

Interestingly, “Hey Jane” shares its name with a New York-based company that provides health-care services, specifically medication for women. The timely song captures the emotional turmoil and decision-making process faced by both individuals, highlighting themes of reproductive freedom and personal choice.

Transition between songs

Listening to a new album song by song is definitely the best experience, and Tyler, the Creator has put some effort into designing the transition. Fans are amazed by the clean and smooth transition between songs, especially between “Rah Tah Tah” and “Noid.” The transitions are absolutely seamless and make the whole listening experience incredible.

The Mask

During the Chromakopia tour stop in Atlanta, Tyler, the Creator got real with fans, opening up about why he wears a mask on the album cover and in concert. He revealed that Chromakopia is his most honest album yet—every word reflects his true thoughts and experiences. Wearing a mask of himself, he explained, helps him create distance, allowing him to say things he might otherwise hold back. It’s his way of “detaching” to share his truth.

The quirky mask and look also sparked some fan’s art.

Frank Ocean not being in the album

Before the release of Chromakopia, fans were speculating about the appearance of Frank Ocean in Tyler, the Creator’s new album. Rumors began swirling when the album’s release date aligned with Frank Ocean’s 37th birthday, leading fans to speculate about a hidden nod. The hype only intensified with Tyler, the Creator’s “Noid” music video, where he drives a white Ferrari—a clear reference to Frank Ocean’s “White Ferrari” from Blonde. Adding to the mystery, the haunting vocals teased in a clip of “St Chroma” sparked fan theories that Frank Ocean might make an appearance. Ultimately, fans discovered the vocals belonged to Daniel Caesar and Frank Ocean is not featuring on any track.

Chromakopia is a Good Wine

Fans are calling Chromakopia “a good wine”—the more you listen, the richer it gets. With each play, Tyler, the Creator’s deep, introspective lyrics reveal new layers, pulling listeners further into his personal journey. While some rappers can’t stop flexing, it’s the raw honesty and complexity in his storytelling that make this album resonate. His willingness to dive deep proves that his music only gets better with time.

The full Chromakopia album is available on Spotify and Apple Music. In the meantime, Tyler, the Creator is bringing his Chromakopia on a world tour, heading to Denver, Los Angeles, and more!
