The Twisted Childhood Universe: Everything You Need To Know

Your favorite childhood characters like Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and Bambi are getting horror remakes and here is everything you need to know!

If you haven’t been online then you may have missed the announcement that your favorite childhood character could be getting their very own horror movie coming soon! A handful of iconic movies are being turned into gorey, slasher films that are shocking the internet! Here is what you should know about The Twisted Childhood Universe.

What Is The Twisted Childhood Universe?

Although you may have not heard of this before, it’s possible you caught a glimpse of the shocking reactions to the movie that started it all: Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey! This was just the beginning for director and creator Rhys Frake-Waterfield! Rhys Frake-Waterfield has plans to create an Avengers-like cinematic universe of X-rated adaptations of these beloved childhood stories, titled the Poohniverse!

How Can This Happen?

The first thing you might be thinking when you heard of this Poohniverse is, how could this happen? Once their copyright terms expire after reaching a certain set period of time, depending on the country, these beloved stories enter the public domain. In the United States, the copyright term for a book or film is 95 years after publication! There are other limitations such as the creator’s deaths, creator’s decisions, or failure to comply with legal requirements that go into the copyright expiring! These expirations mean the endearing characters of Winnie The Pooh, Peter Pan, and even Mickey Mouse are all entering the public domain! These horror movies can be produced using the original artworks created over ninety-five years ago!

What’s Out Now?

There are two releases out in this continuing Pooh-niverse, both surrounding everyone’s favorite yellow bear, Winnie the Pooh! Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey released January 26, 2023! When Christopher Robin left the gang to enter the real world and the days of adventures and merriment have come to an end, Winnie-The-Pooh and Piglet must fend for themselves! With no sign of Chistopher Robin’s return, the gang feels angry and abandoned and the two turn feral. After getting a taste for blood, Winnie-The-Pooh and Piglet set off to find a new source of food. It’s not long before their bloody rampage begins!

Though this all sounds a bit haywire, there has already been a second release in the series with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2! Now deep within the 100-Acre-Wood, a destructive rage grows as Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Owl, and Tigger find their home and their lives endangered after Christopher Robin revealed their existence! Seeking revenge, the group decides to storm the town of Ashdown, home of Christopher Robin, leaving behind a bloody trail of death and mayhem!

What to Expect?

Rhys Frake-Waterfield has big plans for this franchise, already releasing the lineup of movies that he plans to complete the Poohniverse with! The dear ol’ deer Bambi is getting thrown into the mix with Bambi: The Reckoning, where Bambi will destroy anyone in his path! Then Peter Pan is joining the horror ranks with his own, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare! And then closing off just the beginning, the real boy Pinnochio is going to haunt us in Pinnochio: Unstrung! All of these films are still awaiting release dates but they are planned to come in either 2024 or 2025!

After we get a glimpse into the horror worlds of these beloved characters, they will all join forces in Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble! This film is written by Matt Leslie, directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, and produced by Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios! Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble is set to release October 31, 2025! All the while another Pooh slasher is coming to bless our screens with Winnie-the-Pooh Blood and Honey 3!

After the original Poohniverse assembles, Rhys Frake-Waterfield plans to dive into the most iconic princesses of all time with Awakening Sleeping Beauty and Snow White Returns! We can not wait to see what these have in store for us in these upcoming years!
