The PCAs were the thing to see this weekend and we have all your favorite celebrity moments!
Virtual audience
The award show looked a little different because of the pandemic. In the Zoom world we now live in it seems only fitting to have a virtual audience. Demi joked that “everyone is VIP, the virtual in person.” Some fans and Jimmy Fallon even got to say hi! The PCA’s highlighted everyday heroes, including frontline workers like nurses and doctors who also got to attend virtually.
JLo Won People’s Icon of 2020
Being the true icon Jennifer Lopez is she used her speech to talk about what matters most during these unprecedented times and to her, its people. She says it’s not doing something the best and competing for that number 1 spot or getting something first. She describes 2020 as the greatest leveler as all that matters is the people.
JLo’s kids, Max and Emmie even jumped in on Zoom to congratulate her on winning the award.
Female Empowerment
During the award show Sofia Carson and Demi Lovato took a moment to acknowledge all that women in the entertainment industry do. They spoke about how this is a movement to help other women enter the industry. There is now a foundation to help women do just that!
Jimmy Fallon’s Mute Mishap
When Fallon zoomed in to accept his award for Nighttime Talk Show he had some problems unmuting. Good thing he is a pro and played it off very well, but did it take him two times to get his computer to not be on mute. Plus Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley from Saved by the Bell reunited on the PCA’s stage when presenting Fallon with his award!
Tyler Perry’s Inspiration Speech
While accepting the People’s Champion of 2020 for all his work helping others over the years, Perry gave an inspirational speech. He spoke about how you must keep digging no matter how long it takes, you can’t give up. Perry related it to when he was trying to get a well put in at his house and that just 4 feet away from reaching water he told them to stop. Yet you can’t give up or you will never accomplish your goals.
