‘John Wick: Chapter 4‘ has finally hit theaters, so now is the perfect time to rank all four movies!
The John Wick films have been some of the best action films released in the past decade. From the stunt work to the cinematography, these films have ranged from great to downright breathtaking. Now that the long-awaited John Wick Chapter 4 is finally in theaters let’s rank all of them to find out the best!
4. John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019)
As stated previously, there is not a bad film in the franchise, and Parabellum has some of the best moments in the entire series. The first 30 or so minutes, where John is on the run from every assassin in New York, may be the best action scene that Reeves and company have ever cooked up. However, that is also the film’s greatest weakness, as the rest of the movie isn’t able to match the insane energy of those first 30 minutes. There is still so much to love in the following 90 minutes, including Halle Berry’s scene-stealing performance as Sofia, but overall this is the weakest of the series so far.
Parabellum kinda peaks early with this scene, but this is textbook in every way, with an insane amount of flourish to it. The consistently rising tension, the escalation of each moment. It’s just a remarkable piece of action filmmaking. https://t.co/EPrUf9PQr9

3. John Wick (2014)
While the original film has been topped in terms of scale and spectacle, it still holds up as a tight action thriller. John Wick has the lowest budget of the franchise, but with that smaller scale comes real charm and invention. The nightclub shootout is still impressive nearly a decade later, and what movie isn’t improved by Willem Dafoe? John Wick kicked off an entire franchisee and countless imitators for a good reason because it still absolutely rocks.
The first John Wick, no matter how small it is in comparison to the rest, feels revelatory a decade later. Beautiful sense of space on screen and in the script, the fights filling the frame, your mind filling the page. Seismic in the same Hard Boiled and the Raid were. pic.twitter.com/o4GNLzcKf1

the john wick sequels are a lot of fun and have some incredible action, but THE best thing about the first movie is everybody getting a phone call and being like “wait… HIM? HIM? OH FUCK. OH SHIT. OH FUCK.” before he’s even done anything, and you just can’t do that again

2. John Wick Chapter 2 (2017)
Chapter 2 delivers everything you want from a John Wick movie. From the spectacular action sequences to the introduction of Laurence Fishburne as the Bowery King, this is the one that set the tone for the rest of the franchise. The inner world of assassins is expanded in such a fresh and exciting way that never gets in the way of the heart-pounding action. The fight scene between John and Cassian in the subway station makes the film worth the watch alone.

Listening to Keanu and the director of John Wick Chapter 2’s commentary and this insane gag was all in-camera.

1. John Wick Chapter 4 (2023)
Yes, even though Chapter 4 just came out, we are comfortable declaring it the best of the franchise. Clocking in at almost three hours, this is by far the longest, but it earns that runtime by delivering the best action and visuals the series has ever seen. Chapter 4 is an epic in every definition of the word, doing everything we love about the series, just bigger and better. Taking cues from Lawrence of Arabia, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and The Warriors, John Wick Chapter 4 is a masterpiece and the new high watermark of modern action cinema.
John Wick 4 is a full scale Greek epic, every set piece upscaled to Godlike proportions. This thing is unfucking real in how well it balances parodic absurdity and genuine devastation. There’s an extended crane shot that truly made me feel like I’d lost my mind. Holy hell. pic.twitter.com/xLRDOgdzgm
