The Instigators: 5 Movies to Get You Excited to Watch

Everyone is obsessed with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s secret but not-so-secret bro-mance. Though have you ever stopped to think if Matt’s eyes have wandered to the younger Affleck brother? In Matt Damon and Casey Affleck’s upcoming release, The Instigators, we might just see a passion between these two-star actors. 

The Instigators is a comedy, action, thriller, directed by Doug Lineman which is set to have a limited release in theaters on August 2nd, followed by a release on Apple TV+ on August 9th! This mystery will follow two Boston dads who must go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a theft doesn’t go as planned! Matt Damon stars as Rory, a former Marine struggling with a bit of money, life, and marriage troubles. Though he has turned to a life of crime, he has always been the guy who did things by the book. On the other hand, Casey Affleck stars as Cobby, a career criminal who is just a bit rough around his edges! We are stoked to see both Matt and Casey on the screen together again just as their other hit movies like Ocean’s Eleven, Oppenheimer, and Good Will Hunting!

The Departed

You know if the legendary director Martin Scorsese is on the film, it will be one for the history books! The Departed, which happens to be directed by Scorsese, follows an undercover cop attempting to identify a mole within his unit. All whilst the mole seeks him out as well! They must search for one another while infiltrating an Irish gang in South Boston! Just like The Instigators, The Departed follows two different lifestyles of characters in the world of crime, all in the great city of Boston!

The Bourne Identity

Everyone loves a good Jason Bourne movie, and boy-oh-boy does Matt Damon play the heck out of Bourne! Like The Instigators, The Bourne Identity is directed by Doug Lineman as well as stars Matt Damon! This film follows as Bourne is picked up by a fishing boat, bullet-riddled and suffering from amnesia. Bourne struggles to remember who he is, and what had occurred whilst racing to elude the assassins tracking him down!

If you have not watched Interstellar by this point, then you are missing out on one of the most impactful movies of our generation! The stars of The Instigators just can’t seem to get away from one another and we are all here for it! Matt Damon and Casey Affleck both played integral roles in the space-tacular Interstellar. Interstellar takes place when Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future and an ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, must grapple with his decision to pilot a spacecraft to find a new planet for humans. Though this is a short few words to describe this film, there is so much more to be discovered in Interstellar!

Light of My Life is written and directed by Casey Affleck, whilst also having him as the protagonist! Following a father and his child journey through the outskirts of society a decade after a pandemic has wiped out half the world’s population. As the father struggles to protect his child from, their bond and the character of humanity are tested.

However he has been enlisted by a woman who also happens to catch his eye, and now must navigate between turning her in and his new found eye catcher.
