Between becoming dog parents and working on exciting upcoming projects, the Modern Family cast members are continuing to flourish in their careers and personal lives!
The wildly successful and hilarious ABC mockumentary sitcom Modern Family has become a beloved show by TV watchers everywhere. After 11 incredible seasons, the show is still a monumental contribution to the early 2010’s television industry, and it continues to live on in fans’ TVs. Wondering what each of the talented cast members has been up to since the series came to an end? Continue reading to find out!
Sofia Vergara
Vergara, who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, has been keeping busy with a few different projects! Since the end of Modern Family, Vergara has become a judge on America’s Got Talent, was the main voice role and executive producer on the 2021 animated film Koati, and appeared in Bad Bunny’s music video for “Yo Visto Así.” Additionally, she is set to play the main role and executive produce the upcoming TV crime drama Griselda. We love seeing her Instagram posts with her fellow America’s Got Talent judges!

Ariel Winter
Winter enjoys spending her free time as a dog mom (she has 6!!!) and advocates for pet adoption, especially for pit bull type dogs! Aside from caring for her fur babies, since her role as Alex in Modern Family Winter has voiced the character Sofia in the Disney Channel animated TV series Elena of Avalor, and also has voiced video game characters such as in the 2020 action game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, as well as the upcoming horror drama game The Quarry.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson
TV’s favorite uncle and adoptive parent now has a son of his own: Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita, born in July 2020! In regards to his career, Ferguson was the host for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2020, and played the character Garrison in an episode of The Good Fight in 2021. Since March and through the end of May, Ferguson is on the Broadway stage every night as Mason Marzac in Take Me Out, and he is starring in the upcoming Elizabeth Banks-produced thriller film Cocaine Bear. We love watching Ferguson’s family life and career blossom through his Insta posts!

Sarah Hyland
She’s big sister Haley on Modern Family, but Hyland just recently became an aunt in real life (check out her Instagram post below)! After the series ended, Hyland appeared in the pilot for the TV series Epic, which unfortunately was not picked up, and she is currently working on an upcoming Pitch Perfect series where she will play the character Heidi; how exciting! Additionally, Hyland now has her own health and beauty company, Sourse, that sells plant-based and vitamin-infused chocolate!

Ty Burrell
Although we miss seeing Phil Dunphy on a weekly basis, Burrell can be heard playing the voice of Jack Harris in the adult animated sitcom Duncanville! In other news, when the pandemic hit and shut down many bars, including 2 that Burrell owns in Salt Lake City, he and his wife used $100,000 of their own to create the crowd-sourced online fund Tip Your Server, which helps wait staff in Utah that are out of work. How amazing is that?!
Julie Bowen
Bowen is so great at portraying Claire on Modern Family, it’s like watching our own moms on-screen! Since the series finale, Bowen has appeared in numerous works such as Hubie Halloween (2020) opposite Adam Sandler, The Fallout (2021) as Patricia, Mixtape (2021) as Gail, and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2021) as Gabby McAfee in one episode. Additionally, she played as a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 2020. You can also listen to Bowen co-host her Quitters podcast with Chad Sanders, where they talk with guests who have left something behind in the past to move forward in their life or career. We especially love the recent episode where her Modern Family brother, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, came on as a guest! Check it out below:
Ed O’Neill
Since his role on Married… with Children, O’Neill has become a highly influential parental role on television, and he was nothing short of doing the same in Modern Family. In recent news, O’Neill was originally set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime drama Night Sky, but J.K. Simmons now fills that role. In 2020 O’Neill appeared in the dramedy film The Last Shift as the character Dale. He recently celebrated his birthday on April 12th, and a few of his Modern Family co-stars wished him a happy birthday via Instagram!

Eric Stonestreet
Stonestreet has been up to a lot since the end of Modern Family. In 2020 he was a guest judge on America’s Got Talent (filling in for Heidi Klum) where he got to judge with Modern Family co-star Sofia Vergara. He also was a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Will Forte, played Harley Horns in an episode of Madagascar: A Little Wild, and now is the host of the FOX competition series Domino Masters! Additionally, Stonestreet made a cameo in the 2020 music video “Stuck with U” by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. Stonestreet may be involved in many other projects now, but he will forever be Uncle Cam in our hearts – especially when he appears as Fizbo the Clown on the latest episode of Domino Masters!

Rico Rodriguez
Watching all of the Modern Family kids grow up has been so fun, and Rodriguez continues to share what he has been up to since the series came to a close! In 2020 he appeared in an episode of the Nickelodeon reality show The Substitute, and in another Nickelodeon game show Unfiltered. Additionally, in September 2021 he surprised Modern Family co-star and mom on the show, Sofia Vergara, on America’s Got Talent; how sweet!

Nolan Gould
Despite his character on Modern Family, in real life Gould has an IQ of 150! After the series ended, Gould appeared on Celebrity Dating Game in 2021, and he continues to see some of his co-stars every once in a while – last year he and Ariel Winter hung out together in Las Vegas! Additionally, he recently posted for the anniversary of wrapping the filming for Modern Family, and it’s obvious that Gould holds this show and his cast mates very close to his heart!

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Anderson-Emmons started out on Modern Family when she was just 4-years-old in 2011. Now at 14-years-old, she seems to be enjoying her time growing up! She has become quite the TikTok star – our favorite TikTok of hers is trying to teach Eric Stonestreet the Renegade dance!

It’s reassuring to know that our favorite TV family cast members seem to be doing well since Modern Family has ended, and we especially love seeing them continue to hang out together! Although the show is no longer filming, Modern Family is available to stream on Peacock and Hulu.
