It’s no surprise that Donna Summer’s music appears in numerous television series and movies. Keep reading to find out the best features!
March 18th marks the anniversary of Donna Summer receiving her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 1992. To celebrate the anniversary of this iconic pop singer’s accomplishments, we’re compiling a list of our favorite on-screen content that features Donna’s irresistible music.
“Hot Stuff” in The Full Monty
The 1997 British movie The Full Monty is about a male striptease act; it’s like the original Magic Mike! “Hot Stuff” is the featured song for this comedy film. Take a peek at this hilarious scene:
“Bad Girls” in Charlie’s Angels (2019)
“Bad Girls” was remixed by music producer Gigamesh to be featured in the 2019 Charlie’s Angels film. The song not only fits the movie theme perfectly, but is also a great remix to work out to!
“Last Dance” in Thank God It’s Friday and 2 Broke Girls
Not only was “Last Dance” the featured song for the 1978 film Thank God It’s Friday, but Summer starred in the movie as well! Another favorite feature of “Last Dance” is on 2 Broke Girls in Season 5 Episode 22 where Han is forced to sing karaoke and he chooses the popular Summer song:
“She Works Hard For The Money” in South Park and Birdcage
South Park features a chaotic rendition of “She Works Hard For The Money” where Cartman performs the song. We also love the film Birdcage’s feature of the song where character Hank is singing it aloud to himself:
“No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)” in The Voice
The original version of Summer’s is a duet with Barabra Streisand, and the two absolutely dominate together on this track! In the most recent 22nd season of The Voice, “No More Tears (Enough is Enough)” was sung in a powerful performance by 2 contestants on the show under Judge Ariana’s team.
Even though today marks an especially historic celebration for Donna Summer, we’ll continue celebrating her wonderful music no matter what day it is!
