The Bachelor’s Litia Garr Finally Speaks on Breakup

The Bachelor’s Litia Garr opens up for the first time about her shocking split from Grant Ellis, revealing what really happened off-camera.

Litia Garr is finally breaking her silence following her dramatic and unexpected breakup with Grant Ellis on Season 29 of The Bachelor. In a candid new interview, the 31-year-old star shared the emotional behind-the-scenes moments that led her to believe she was Grant’s final pick — only to be left heartbroken when he proposed to someone else.

Litia Garr is ready to tell her side of the story. The Bachelor alum sat down for a revealing episode of the Relationsht with Kamie Crawford* podcast on Friday, April 11, marking her first public comments since her emotional split from Grant Ellis aired during Season 29 of The Bachelor.

According to Litia, the connection she shared with Grant was strong enough that she fully believed she would be his final choice. “He was saying things like, ‘I can’t wait for the cameras to go away and we can just be together. I just want to hang out and talk and chat and not feel like we have to talk about heavy stuff all the time,’” Litia recalled. “We had light moments, but the things that were shown definitely were the most important things that were being discussed.”

Litia described the moment she left her suite before the finale, convinced she was walking toward an engagement. “When leaving my suite, I was like, ‘OK, I’ll see you tomorrow. I can’t believe it, like, we’re getting engaged,’ because of all the things he had just said to me during the whole conversation. He was like, ‘I know. I can’t wait. I love you. I love you. I love you,’ when he was being, like, rushed out the door.”

She speculated that Grant’s words may have stemmed from a “people pleasing” instinct, but maintained that the signals were clear. “I stood there and I was like, ‘If it’s not me, he won’t let me speak.’ After everything that he said, hopefully he would just let me know before I do my big declaration — he knows what I’m about to say,” she said. “And we stood there for a minute, and he was like, ‘They told me to let you talk first.’ He, like, prompted me to give my speech.”

One of the more shocking revelations was the story behind a journal Grant had given her — a gesture that at first felt deeply personal. Litia claimed that Grant encouraged her to write down her feelings in the journal with the intent to read through it together after filming wrapped. However, she later learned that Juliana Pasquarosa, the woman Grant ultimately chose, had also been given a journal.

“I don’t know everyone’s conversations with him. … Why would you give multiple women journals and ask them to write down all their feelings for you so you can read through it at the end?” Litia questioned. “Why would you ask multiple women to do that? That seems to me like a stroke of the ego, so that you know everyone is really dwelling and sitting in this Grant, Kool-Aid world.”

Another moment that made Litia confident she would be chosen was the kiss Grant gave her upon her arrival before the final decision. “There’s, like, a million things the whole time why I thought it was gonna go a different way, but that was the part to me, on the drive away from the breakup, I was like, ‘He asked me to give the speech,’” she said.

Despite the heartbreak, Litia ended her podcast appearance with a level of understanding and maturity. “He’s doing his best to be a good partner to the person he’s in a relationship with now,” she said. “To me, everything that I said on the couch during After the Final Rose, I said during our breakup. I knew that I signed up to be a part of a TV show, and that that came with an audience that was invested in the story of our relationship. … I just kind of wanted to add context to why I was surprised.”

As Season 29 fades into Bachelor Nation history, Litia’s emotional insight adds another layer to the drama that fans watched unfold on-screen — proving that even reality TV heartbreaks can leave lasting scars.
