Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía is now MAC Cosmetic’s new VIVA GLAM Ambassador. The international superstar is the campaign’s new face for the limited-edition lipstick shades. The partnership is Rosalía’s first, in-depth collaboration with a company in the beauty industry.
A week before MAC unveiled its new ambassador, the cosmetics business teased followers on Instagram with a short video. The company posted a clip of Rosalía with her back to the camera while a ruby red blanket flowed in the wind. The mysterious set up didn’t fool fans, a number of them guessed the singer in the comment section.
The campaign was announced right at the start of September, which means Rosalía can celebrate her birthday as a VIVA GLAM Ambassador. The red-lipsticked icon turns 27 at the end of the month on Sept. 25. National Hispanic Heritage Month also starts halfway through the month.
MAC VIVA GLAM was created in 1994 and the campaign is 26 years old (just like Rosalía)! The “Catalina” singer happily announced her role as a Global Ambassador for the brand on social media.
“This campaign has inspired me since I was a young girl because 100% of the lipstick selling price goes towards local organizations to help those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, supporting women and girls and helping the LGBTQIA+ community,” she shared with followers. “Lipstick out in Sept!❤️❤️❤️”
American singer and actress Demi Lovato was among the various celebrities congratulating Rosalía in the comment section. Other Hispanic and Latino celebs commended the #MACVIVAGLAM ambassador on joining the campaign and advocating for more resources available to those in LGBTQIA+ community.
Rosalía is known for wearing bold lip colors and long, carefully designed acrylic nails in her music videos and live performances. The signature red matte lipstick is on-brand for the Grammy winner, which happens to be her favorite color too!
Former MAC VIVA GLAM ambassadors include pop singers Sia in 2018 and Fergie in 2008, among others.
