Robert Irwin Joins Dancing With The Stars Season 34

Dancing With the Stars officially renewed for season 34 as Robert Irwin becomes the first celebrity cast member to join the upcoming season.

The ballroom is calling — and Robert Irwin is answering! ABC has announced the renewal of Dancing With the Stars for its 34th season, and the first celebrity contestant stepping into the spotlight is none other than wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin.

The network confirmed the exciting news on April 22, 2025, revealing both the series’ renewal and Robert Irwin’s casting in a single announcement. The 21-year-old Australian, widely known for following in the footsteps of his late father, Steve Irwin, will trade crocodiles for choreography when the hit reality competition returns this fall.

Robert Irwin, who works alongside his mother Terri Irwin and sister Bindi Irwin at the Australia Zoo, is no stranger to Dancing With the Stars — at least from the audience’s perspective. His older sister, Bindi Irwin, captured hearts during season 21, ultimately winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy with pro dancer Derek Hough in 2015. Throughout her journey, Robert Irwin frequently cheered her on from the sidelines, with Derek Hough calling him “equally as awesome” and praising the entire Irwin family’s energy and warmth.

Bindi Irwin’s emotional performances paid tribute to their father, who passed away in 2006, and inspired audiences with her strength and message. “Even though the sun will never shine as brightly, it will shine again,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “It’s important to pick yourself up and to remember everything they lived and died for and carry that message forward.”

Now, Robert Irwin is ready to create his own legacy in the ballroom, with the rest of the cast — including the lineup of professional dancers — still to be announced.

Season 33 ended with a bang as The Bachelor alum Joey Graziadei and pro Jenna Johnson took home the Mirrorball Trophy. Looking ahead, season 34 of Dancing With the Stars will air on ABC and Disney+, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.

Stay tuned — the dance floor drama is just getting started.
