After an altercation between the two, their handlers devise a plan to stage a truce for the public. However, there appears to be more than just friendship behind their publicity stunt.

Fans of the book are excited that director Matthew Lopez has revealed the movie will stay true to McQuiston’s novel due to her involvement behind the scenes. More specifically, Lopez said, “It is an adaptation, not a recitation. I like to think that, as a fan of the novel, I was able to find the balance of serving Casey’s story while also serving the needs of the movie.”
