How are you preparing for Red (Taylor’s Version)? We are binging every single Taylor Swift music video and ranking the 10 best!
Taylor Swift is one of the world’s biggest pop stars and will leave a mark on the music industry for years and years to come. Along with her incredible vocal range, intricate songwriting, and overall performance skills, another thing this legendary musician does insanely well is making music videos. From “Bad Blood” to “Look What You Made Me Do” to “You Belong With Me,” every era has at least one music video that deeply impacted pop culture.
So, here we are, giving you the top ten Taylor Swift music videos. Are you ready for it?
10. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
Starting off with a Red classic, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is one of those music videos that just hits every time. This music video tells the entire breakup story of a couple in one shot, and honestly, no one but Taylor could do it this good.
9. “Love Story”
Romeo and Juliet who? “Love Story” will always be that love song, and this music video just lets us live out our fantasy of a forbidden love in the 1500s mixed with a high school crush. Does anyone else think that the love interest looks a little like James from Big Time Rush? Just us?
8. “Our Song”
This is definitely where your crush on Taylor Swift began, there’s no denying it. Visually, this music video is everything. How can someone look that good and be that talented? The roses on the floor, the blue Cinderella dress, all of it. Rewatch this video at least once a week to keep your life in check.
7. “You Belong With Me”
Now, this is a music video that will be remembered forever. If you haven’t seen this one by now, you must live under a rock! Taylor plays both the main character and the “villain” in this video and portrays unrequited love in such a realistic way, it truly is a masterpiece. We can argue that this 2009 video shaped a lot of future videos and moments in pop culture, as it should. Absolutely a must-watch if you for some reason have yet to obsess over it like the rest of the world.
6. “Out Of The Woods”
As you’ll be able to tell by the rest of this list, “1989” was the best music video era. Every single has a fantastic music video, and “Out Of The Woods” is no exception. Sad to say that there was not a ton of hinting at the Harry Styles vehicular manslaughter theory in this one (hopefully you know what we are referencing here), but the visuals in this video are stunning. This video is honestly a cinematic masterpiece, from the aerial shots in the woods to underwater scenes, this entire video is just so visually pleasing. Definitely some of her best work from an artistic standpoint.
5. “Blank Space”
This video definitely needs no explanation for being on this list. Taylor took what the world was saying about her and fired back with this story of a crazy girlfriend who cries in mansions and loses her mind. They asked for it and she delivered. Not only is the social commentary of this music video something to get us talking, but it was so nicely put together. If there’s one thing you can count on from Miss Swift, it’s storytelling. Each music video from her is like stepping into another world. Some of her best work right here!
4. “The Story Of Us”
Criminally underrated is the “The Story Of Us” music video. This one is often forgotten about, which feels like such a punch to the gut because it is one of the best videos we’ve ever seen. Taylor is eyeing this guy she used to date in the library, and of course, it’s so awkward because those scenarios are always awkward! We get to watch her have a full breakdown in the stacks, it really is just a great video concept. Plus, the outfit and hair in this are on another level. Too good!
3. “Bad Blood”
Need we say more? This video was the talk of the town in 2015, featuring Taylor’s iconic girl squad with celebs like Cara Delevigne, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and more. This music video will live on forever. Despite whatever drama goes down between these celebrities, it will be remembered as one of the best music videos in pop music. There is nothing better than a bunch of big celebrity names teaming up in leather outfits to beat up bad guys. This concept was a little different from Taylor’s usual romantic love story being told in various scenarios, so when “Bad Blood” came out it really made waves.
2. “Look What You Made Me Do”
Hard not to put this video in the number 1 spot, but 2 is pretty nice! “Look What You Made Me Do” was the song that we were first introduced to after Taylor disappeared for about two years. The lead single off of reputation is an entirely different sound than many fans were used to, so it came as a bit of a shock. This video though is on a whole new level. Starting off with a dead “Out Of The Woods” Taylor, this video has a bunch of different looks and all of them are incredible. Not to mention, we get to see all the past Taylor eras line up and give us the “new” Taylor. This video started off one of Taylor’s best eras and we can’t imagine a better video for this song.
1. “Wildest Dreams”
And at number 1 we have “Wildest Dreams!” This video is on constant repeat in our head, from dark-haired Taylor to the hunk playing her costar, this video tells such a great story. This song is one of her best as well, but the plot of the video, the scenery, the costumes, all of it are paired so well together that there is no arguing this is her best work. Wishing we were standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset like Taylor is in this video.
Taylor Swift has about 45 great music videos, so it’s nearly impossible to choose which ones are better than others. These ten have a special place in our hearts, and we are hoping there will be more to add to this list sooner rather than later. Perhaps we will get some re-creations for Red (Taylor’s Version)? Fingers crossed!
