The Spooky Season may be almost over, but it’s still a good time to watch or re-watch films from the popular horror franchise universe of The Conjuring. Here’s a ranking of all the movies!
The Conjuring Universe began in 2013 with The Conjuring film which received positive reviews from critics. Since then there have been spinoffs or continuations of the first film. Let’s look at how well critics and audiences ranked each movie!

9. Annabelle (2014)
This movie centers on a pregnant woman who receives a gift from her husband, a doll in a white dress. Things go awry when devil worshippers break into their home and try to summon a demon turning the doll into a conduit for evil. This is the origin story of the Annabelle doll, it was first introduced in the first Conjuring film. On Rotten Tomatoes, the score was 28% and the audience review was 35%. On Metacritic, it received generally unfavorable reviews with 37%.

8. The Curse of La Llorna
The film is set in the 1970s in Los Angeles where the mythical ghost, La Llorna is stalking children. A mom and her children are drawn into another realm as they do not heed the warnings of La Lorna. It’s up to a priest to stop the evil spirit, in order for the family to make it out alive. The ranking on Rotten Tomatoes was 28% with a 35% audience score. The reviews on Metacritic were mixed with critics as it received 41%.

7. The Nun (2018)
The film follows a priest and a nun in her novitiate investigating the murder of a young nun. The two uncover the order’s dark secret and come face-to-face with a demonic spirit in the form of a nun. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 24% with an audience score of 35%. On Metacritic, the Metascore was 46%.

6. The Nun II (2023)
This movie is a sequel to the first film, The Nun. Set in 1956 France where a priest is brutally murdered, it’s up to Sister Irene back from the first film to solve the case. She, however, faces the demonic nun once again. The critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 52% while audiences scored it a high 73%. On Metacritic, critics gave it a 47%.

5. Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
The movie centers once again on Annabelle who has been locked up by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, however, when the doll awakens it becomes a true nightmare for their daughter and her friends. The rating for this film on Rotten Tomatoes was 64% along with a 70% audience score. The Metascore on Metacritic was 53%.

4. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
The film is a sequel to The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, making it the seventh installment in the universe. It centers on paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren who take on one of their most astonishing cases. When the suspect is accused of murder, he claims he was possessed by a demon leading the Warrens to investigate an evil they have never encountered before. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 55% with a high 83% audience score. The critics on Metacritic scored it 53%.

3. Annabelle Creation (2017)
This film follows a former toy maker and his wife who years before lost their daughter, Annabelle in a tragic accident. They have welcomed a nun and six orphaned girls into their home, but things take a dark turn when one of the girls discovers an evil doll in the house. The movie received 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and with audiences, it got a 68%. According to Metacritic, the critic reviews were generally favorable with 62%.

2. The Conjuring 2 (2016)
This film goes back to 1977 when Ed and Lorraine Warren traveled to north London to meet a single mother who informs them that there is evil in her house. The paranormal investigators believe her when they see demonic possession in her youngest child. It’s up to them to help the young girl, but they soon become targets of the demonic spirit. On Rotten Tomatoes, it was certified fresh with an 80% and earned 81% with audiences. The reviews on Metacritic were favorable with a 65%.

1. The Conjuring (2013)
The first movie of the series is set in 1970 where we are introduced to paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren who are called to the house of the Perron family who have noticed a demonic presence at their farmhouse and need the Warren’s help. When the Warrens discover the disturbing history of the house, it becomes a terrifying nightmare for all. The film got a high 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and became certified fresh, in addition to an audience score of 83%. The Metascore on Metacritic was positive with a 68%.
