Prime Video is bringing the gripping, best-selling novel We Were Liars to the screen this summer. The highly anticipated eight-episode mystery thriller will premiere globally on June 18, 2025, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.

Based on E. Lockhart’s acclaimed book, We Were Liars introduces viewers to the seemingly perfect Sinclair family, known for their wealth, charm, and pristine image. At the center of it all is Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle of friends, affectionately known as the Liars. Every summer, they gather on the family’s private island off the coast of New England—but one fateful season ends in tragedy. When Cadence returns after a mysterious accident that alters everything, she begins to unravel a web of secrets that threatens to destroy the illusion of her perfect world.

Emily Alyn Lind stars as Cadence, leading the cast as the truth behind her fractured memories slowly comes to light. She’s joined by Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. Rounding out the ensemble are Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.

The series is helmed by co-showrunners Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals), who also serve as executive producers. Additional executive producers include Emily Cummins (The Endgame, Vampire Academy) for My So-Called Company and E. Lockhart, author of the original novel. The production is a collaboration between Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios.

We Were Liars is published by Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. With a talented cast, seasoned creators, and a chilling story of privilege, deception, and psychological suspense, this new series is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most binge-worthy thrillers.
