Prime Video Renews House of David for a Second Season

Prime Video has officially renewed its biblical drama House of David for a second season following its impressive debut. The series premiered on February 27, 2025, with three episodes, captivating audiences in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In its first 17 days, House of David amassed 22 million viewers, securing its place among the top 10 new series debuts in the U.S. this year.

New episodes of Season One are currently rolling out weekly, with the season finale set for April 3. The series, led by visionary filmmakers Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution, American Underdog) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), brings to life the epic biblical tale of David’s rise to power. Both Erwin and Gunn return as directors, writers, and executive producers for Season Two, with Michael Iskander reprising his role as David.

House of David chronicles the ascent of the legendary biblical figure as he moves toward becoming Israel’s most celebrated king. The first season follows King Saul’s downfall, his struggle with pride, and the divine appointment of an unlikely teenage successor. As Saul’s grip on power weakens, David embarks on a journey filled with love, loss, and palace intrigue, leading up to his inevitable rise.

The second season will explore the aftermath of David’s legendary battle with Goliath, his growing influence, and the challenges of palace politics. With jealousy brewing among his family and a romance unfolding, David must navigate the complexities of leadership while stepping into his destined role.

“Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn’s compelling creative vision has solidified our belief in the series, and we are excited to deliver more of the story to our customers,” said Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios. “We look forward to a continued journey with Wonder Project as we further expand our slate to encompass faith-based series.”
