It’s the last week of 2020, and boy, are we ready to welcome a new year. With the lack of ability to go out and celebrate, we have the list of premieres for this week to help you see the year through to the end!
Sunday, December 27th
Death to 2020
Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones bring their latest creation to us. It’s a mockumentary styler special that features a series of fictional characters discussing U.S. and U.K. events of 2020, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. presidential election. It features an all star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow, Leslie Jones, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, and more! The special will be available on Netflix on Sunday, December 27th.
Shameless: Hall of Shame
The final season of the hit Showtime show is almost here, and to celebrate and ring it in, we’re getting a proper send off! The six-episode series will feature new, original Shameless scenes juxtaposed with a retrospective look at each character’s journey over the prior 10 seasons. A new episode will air every Sunday at 9 pm ET on Showtime.
The Masked Dancer
The spinoff of the hit costumed singing show premieres. The series will be hosted by Craig Robinson (The Office) and have a panel of celebrity panelists, including Ken Jeong (The Masked Singer), Paula Abdul (American Idol), Brian Austin Green (Beverly Hills 90210), and Ashley Tisdale (Clipped). Much like The Masked Singer, the show will feature celebrity contestants dressed head to toe in elaborate costumes while they dance their hearts out. The audience and panelists will be given specific clues that help them figure out who is behind the mask, although this time, they will have no voice to go off of. The series premieres on Sunday, December 27th at 8 pm ET and then moves to its normal time of Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on January 6th on FOX.
Monday, December 28th
Atlanta Justice
The series gives an inside look into Atlanta’s detective unit as they solve some of the city’s biggest and most baffling crimes. It features two detectives, Nicole Redlinger and JD Stephens, a prosecutor, Leif Howard, and a lawyer, Tanya Miller, as they work together to protect their community. The 6 episode series will air new episodes every Monday at 9 pm ET on ID.
Kids Baking Championship
The Holiday Baking Championship may be over, but lucky for us, the 9th season of the hit children spinoff is here to take its place! Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman are back with a dozen talented young bakers who will battle it out to claim the grand prize. New episodes will air every Monday at 9 pm ET on Food Network.
Tuesday, December 29th
7 Little Johnstons
The eighth season of everyone’s favorite little family premieres. The new season will feature the family’s life during the pandemic as everyone is back under one roof. We will see the children handle relationships and e-learning while their parents try to find ways to spice their marriage up after 20 years. New episodes will air every Tuesday at 8 pm on TLC.
Supermarket Stakeout
The series returns for its third season. Hosted by Iron Chef and Chopped judge Alex Guarnaschelli, each episode features four talented chefs who must be strategic and persuasive in negotiating items out of exiting customers’ carts with a budget of only $500 and then turn those ingredients into culinary magic in a pop-up kitchen setup. The winner walks away with enough cash for a years worth of groceries. New episodes air every Tuesday at 10 pm ET on Food Network.
Wednesday, December 30th
Best Leftovers Ever!
The new series will feature skilled chefs as they try and transform everyday leftovers into culinary masterpieces. The chefs will battle out with each other to claim the title of champion. The entire season will be available on Wednesday, December 30th, on Netflix.
My 600-LB Life
The series is back for its 9th season! The show follows the journeys of morbidly obese people as they fight to save their own lives by making the courageous decision to undergo high-risk gastric bypass surgery. Chronicling lifelong hardships with addiction and the inevitable impact their condition has on their closest relationships, each episode gives an inside look at the extreme emotional and physical journeys each person must undergo to qualify for life-saving surgery with Dr. Nowzaradan. New episodes will be available on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
Transformers: War for Cybertron – Earthrise
The Autobots and Decepticons are back to fight and ravage their planet in the civil war which started it all! The second season of the origin story for the hit cartoon turned live action film series will be available on Netflix on Wednesday, December 30th.
True Conviction
The third season of the hit legal series is back. The series explores the real-life stories of how homicides are solved on the street but won in the courtroom. It follows renowned Brooklyn homicide prosecutor Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi as she travels across the country to reveal how the nation’s top prosecutors tackled their toughest cases, reliving the crime with the detectives who were on the scene and connecting with those who were left behind, showing the many paths of justice from crime to verdict. New episodes are available every Wednesday at 10 pm ET on ID.
Vikings
The final ten episodes of the hit History show have arrived but not on History. The last episodes will air on Amazon Prime and will wrap up the series, including the conflict between the Rus and the Vikings, which will have grave consequences, Ubbe fulfilling his father Ragnar’s dream to sail further west than any Viking has traveled before, and some unfinished business in England. The Vikings have established settlements there and over-run most of the country – except for Wessex. The King of Wessex, Alfred the Great, is the only Saxon ruler to seriously challenge their complete domination. Ivar the Boneless must again face, in battle, the King he only knew as a boy for a final reckoning. The entire ten episodes will be available on Wednesday, December 30th, on Amazon Prime.
Thursday, December 31st
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
The final season of the comic book inspired show premieres. The fourth season will definitely see Sabrina dealing with the repercussions of disrupting the space time continuum by keeping the second version of herself in the same time and space. We don’t know too much else except that they will have to wrap up all the storylines. Part four will be available on Netflix on Thursday, December 31st.
Dick Clark’s New Year Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2021
Despite the pandemic, the annual and most popular New Year show will continue. This will mark the 49th year of the show, and it will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest for the 16th time. Billy Porter and Lucy Hale will be reporting from Times Square, while Ciara will again be covering the Los Angeles festivities. Additionally, country artist Jessie James Decker will return as a Powerball correspondent for the second year. Performers will include Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, and more. The show will start at 8 pm ET on ABC.
NBC’s New Year’s Eve 2021
The NBC event will be hosted by Carson Daily and will feature performances from AJR, Busta Rhymes ft. Anderson.Paak, Chloe x Halle, CNCO, Jason Derulo, Goo Goo Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Pentatonix, Bebe Rexha ft. Doja Cat, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Sting ft. Shirazee. The show will broadcast live from Times Square from 10-11 pm ET and then 11:30 pm-12 am ET on NBC.
New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2021
The brand new special from FOX will feature hosts Ken Jeong and Joel McHale. The special will feature performances from LeAnn Rimes and Gloria Estefan, a special tribute to healthcare workers from Doctor Elvis, Ava Max, Gabby Barrett, Green Day, and John Legend, as well as celebrity appearances by Cheyenne Jackson, Jane Krakowski, Leslie Jordan, Mayim Bialik, Morris Chestnut, Randy Jackson, Tim Allen, and Tom Payne. The broadcast will air live from Los Angeles and will air in two parts. Part one will air from 8 pm-10 pm ET, and the second part will air from 11 pm-12:30 am ET on FOX.
Friday, January 1st
Cobra Kai
Season three of the Karate Kid spinoff premieres, but this time in its new home. The show was recently moved from Youtube to Netflix. Season three does not pick up where the second left off; William Zabka said the series picks up after a significant amount of time after. Sam and Tory are set to have more backstory told throughout this season, and we’ll get to hear more about Miyagi-Do’s origins. The entire season will be available on Friday, January 1st, on Netflix.
Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks
Doctor Who is following suit from last year and releasing their Holiday special on New Year’s Day over Christmas Day as they did in years past. The special this year will reveal a new design for the Daleks, based on the look of the Reconnaissance Dalek introduced in the 2019 episode “Resolution.” The episode will pick up where season 12 left off, with the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) still trapped in an eternal prison following the events of the 2019 finale. It will also feature the return of fan favorite Captain Jack Harkness, The Special precedes a shortened season 13, which has begun filming its eight-episode run in the UK with COVID-19 safety protocols in place. The special will air on Friday, January 1st, on BBC America at 8 pm ET.
Dream Home Makeover
The second season of the makeover show premieres. The series makes dreams come true for real families looking for the perfect home tailored to their own unique style, thanks to Shea and Syd McGee of Studio McGee. The entire season will be available on Netflix on Friday, January 1st.
Earth to Ned
Part two of the alien talk show premieres. Ned and his lieutenant, Cornelius, call off their invasion of Earth after they fall in love with our human culture, broadcast from the bridge of their spaceship, hidden deep underground; Ned and Cornelius interview Earth’s greatest resource, celebrities. With the help of the ship’s artificial intelligence, BETI, and the destructive CLODs, Ned must keep his show a secret from his home planet or suffer the wrath of the Admiral of the Galactic Fleet. All ten episodes will be available on Friday, January 1st, on Disney+.
Headspace Guide to Meditation
The latest series from Netflix takes a friendly, animated look at the benefits of meditation while offering techniques and guided meditations to jump-start your practice. The entire season will be available on Friday, January 1st, on Netflix.
RuPaul’s Drag Race
The queens are back for the thirteenth season of the most awarded reality competition show! The new season is bringing together thirteen fabulous queens as they vie for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and a cash prize of $100,000. New episodes will be available every Friday at 8 pm ET on VH1.
Rupaul’s Drag Race: Untucked
With the main show also comes the official after show! The series brings viewers behind the scenes to the backstage drama as the queens anxiously await their fate and see who will need to lip-sync for their life to avoid the week’s elimination. The show airs directly after the main show on Fridays at 9:30 pm ET on VH1.
