Park Sung-Hoon’s Comeback w/ New K-Drama Amid Controversy

Park Sung-Hoon is reportedly in talks for Efficient Dating for Singles following his AV parody case controversy and exit from The Tyrant’s Chef.

Park Sung-Hoon is reportedly making his return to the screen following the AV parody controversy that led to his exit from The Tyrant’s Chef. The Squid Game 2 actor is in talks to star in the upcoming romance drama Efficient Dating for Singles, alongside Han Ji-Min, who recently headlined the 2025 hit Love Scout.

Korean media reports that Park Sung-Hoon, known for his villainous roles in The Glory and Queen of Tears, is being considered for the lead role in Efficient Dating for Singles, a drama based on a popular webtoon. The series will explore the complexities of modern dating, balancing love with realistic expectations.

His agency, BH Entertainment, responded to the reports on March 26, stating, “To our knowledge, another actor is being considered as a higher priority for Efficient Dating for Singles before Park Sung-Hoon. We are currently awaiting a decision.” Interestingly, both Park and his potential co-star Han Ji-Min are represented by BH Entertainment.

Park Sung-Hoon found himself in hot water on December 30, 2024, when he accidentally uploaded a controversial Instagram story featuring an adult parody cover of Squid Game 2. Though the post was deleted almost instantly, it had already gone viral, causing a public uproar.

The backlash was amplified due to its unfortunate timing, coming shortly after the tragic Jeju Air flight crash in South Korea. Many found the post insensitive, leading to widespread criticism. Park later issued multiple apologies, clarifying that he had received the parody image in his DMs and had unintentionally posted it while trying to forward it to his manager.

Amid the controversy, Park Sung-Hoon stepped away from The Tyrant’s Chef, in which he was set to star alongside YoonA. His exit was described as a “mutual decision” between the production team and his agency after “extensive discussions.” He was ultimately replaced by Lee Chae-Min of Hierarchy fame.

With Efficient Dating for Singles on the horizon, Park Sung-Hoon may be on the verge of a fresh start. If cast, the role could mark a significant turning point in his career following the controversy. Fans and industry watchers alike are eager to see if this project will solidify his comeback.
