MrBeast’s Squid Game-Style Thriller Sparks Bidding War

Media giants are battling for the rights to MrBeast’s co-written thriller novel, which could become a major movie or TV franchise.

Content creator MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) is expanding his empire beyond YouTube with an ambitious new project—a thriller novel co-written with bestselling author James Patterson. The book, reportedly titled The Most Dangerous Game, is already attracting massive interest from publishers and Hollywood studios, with bidding rights soaring into eight figures.

According to Deadline, the novel is set in the world of survivalism and features a high-stakes competition where “players fight to survive deadly tests held in dangerous locations around the world, as they battle to become ‘The One.’” The concept has drawn comparisons to Netflix’s hit Squid Game, further fueling excitement over its adaptation potential.

The rights to the book—along with potential film and television adaptations—are being handled by United Talent Agency (UTA), and multiple companies have already submitted eight-figure bids. Given MrBeast’s record-breaking success with Beast Games on Prime Video, there’s little doubt that major streaming services and studios see enormous potential in this project.

James Patterson is one of the world’s most successful authors, with many of his books adapted into blockbuster films and TV series. Pairing his storytelling expertise with MrBeast’s unmatched digital reach—boasting over 375 million YouTube subscribers—makes for a highly marketable and potentially record-breaking release.

MrBeast’s recent success with Beast Games demonstrated his ability to bring long-form content to mainstream audiences. While he admitted losing money on that project, the potential earnings from this thriller’s media rights could change the game for him in Hollywood.

With negotiations still ongoing, the final home for The Most Dangerous Game—whether in bookstores, on the big screen, or on a streaming platform—remains undecided. However, one thing is clear: whoever secures this deal is betting on one of the biggest media crossover events in recent years.
