The Met Gala is back, honoring the iconic Karl Lagerfeld, and we’re telling you everything you need to know for the most esteemed night in fashion!
On Monday May 1st, celebrities and fashion giants will ascend the ever famous red carpeted steps at the New York City Metropolitan Museum of Art, for the 2023 Met Gala. This year’s theme will celebrate the work of late designer Karl Lagerfeld with a congruous dress code of the night: “in honor of Karl”. You can expect to see celebrities make big fashion moments in their most elegant outfits, as they pay homage to Lagerfeld’s legendary designs.

Outside of his own namesake brand, Lagerfeld has worked for many fashion houses and for decades served as creative director for Fendi and Chanel. The night will commemorate the life and work of Lagerfeld with the opening of this year’s Costume Institution exhibition, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”. The exhibit will showcase over 150 pieces and many paired with Lagerfeld’s personal sketches. If you’re interested in seeing the exhibit for yourself, it opens to the public on May 5th.

The exclusive invite only event is curated by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, with about 600 people making the cut each year. We expect season attendees The hosts of the night include Michaela Coel, Dua Lipa, Penelope Cruz, and Roger Federer. While the Vogue livestream will be hosted by Lala Anthony, Derek Glasberg, Chloe Fineman, and Emma Chamberlain.
