Marvel announces Avengers: Doomsday Cast

Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, and more join the cast of Avengers: Doomsday—Marvel’s highly anticipated next chapter.

The Avengers are assembling once again. Marvel Studios has officially begun announcing the star-studded cast of Avengers: Doomsday in a livestream on YouTube and its social media channels, marking an exciting new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Returning fan-favorites include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/the new Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. This continuation of the Avengers saga also brings a fresh wave of heroes and villains into the mix.

Among the new faces are Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, all of whom will first appear in this summer’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Letitia Wright is set to reprise her role as Shuri, who took on the Black Panther mantle in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Also making their mark in Avengers: Doomsday are Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Lewis Pullman as the mysterious Bob. Simu Liu is also back as Shang-Chi.

One of the biggest surprises from the announcement is the return of Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor. His role in Avengers: Doomsday remains a mystery, but his presence adds intrigue to the evolving MCU storyline. Additionally, Kelsey Grammer is confirmed to reprise his role as Beast from X-Men, after his recent cameo in the post-credits scene of The Marvels.

It has been six years since the Avengers last assembled on screen in Avengers: Endgame, where they defeated Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) and bid farewell to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris EvansCaptain America, and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. In the time since, the MCU has introduced a variety of new characters, including Liu’s Shang-Chi, Wright’s Black Panther, and the Eternals.

However, one of the biggest bombshells dropped last year at San Diego Comic-Con: Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU—but not as Iron Man. Instead, he will take on the role of the villainous Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr. teased fans at the event, saying, “New mask, same task.”

Behind the camera, the Avengers franchise is also seeing the return of veteran directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, Marvel is gearing up for the release of Thunderbolts on May 2, 2025, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25, 2025. Fans won’t have to wait too long for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to return, as Avengers: Doomsday is officially set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
