Lebron James’ Contributions Off The Court!

As great as he is in the court, did you know that Lebron James is also making great contributions to society? 

Lebron James is one of the greatest players in NBA history, he came from a very poor family and was raised by his single mother in Akron, Ohio. He knows what it’s like to be at the bottom, and now that he has made a name for himself he finds a way to give back to the community.

His Foundation, which is called Lebron James Family Foundation, currently helps 1,400 Akron-area students. They provide these students support in their educational journey, so that they can have a good experience and education and be ready for the next chapter.

This foundation also provides scholarships for students who seek to attend a 4 year university. This is a great opportunity for students who come from an under-represented community to explode their talents and succeed in life.

In 2018 Lebron founded I Promise School which is an elementary school designed to help students from Akron. The school provides free tuition, uniforms, Bicycles and helmets, breakfast and lunch. This definitely is a huge help because the goal of this school is to help redefine and change the lives of these young students and open doors for their future.

The Lebron James Family Foundation invested $20 million to create this school, and gives $1 million every year to pay the teacher’s salaries. Lebron has many haters but no one can deny the fact that he contributes so much to good causes.

James has also donated $2.5 million to the Boys and Girls Club of America in 2010. This organization provides after-school projects for young students.

He has also used his influence to speak about social and racial injustices within the United States. One of the most memorable moments of this was in 2018 when journalist Laura Ingraham said “shut up and dribble” on public television referring to Lebron James, when he openly spoke about politics. She said that she was not interested in political advice from someone who gets paid millions to bounce a ball.

This caused a stir in the media but Lebron responded to this by saying “I will not shut up and dribble,” as he knows he provides a huge value in society and a lot of people look up to him, Lebron knows he can use his fame to influence others and this also means speaking against things that are not socially correct.
