AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Spotlight On edition, is a long form interview series featuring Actors and TV personalities discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Kelly McInerney interviews Jonathan Kite.

Jonathan Kite’s Bio: Jonathan Kite is quickly becoming known for his wide array of characters that he has brought to life on television, and in film. His love of storytelling reflects his limitless dedication and commitment to each role he embarks on, and his passion for entertaining and delighting audiences of all ages shines through with every performance. In September 2011, Kite can be seen co-starring as “Oleg,” the Ukrainian cook, opposite Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs in one of the most widely anticipated new series premiering this fall, CBS’ “Two Broke Girls.”

Born and raised in Skokie, Illinois, Kite has been performing since birth, and came out of the womb to thunderous applause. Growing up in the windy city he was immersed in the comedy world – as it is a huge part of the Chicago theater scene. Kite notes that being around this subculture and gravitating to it at such a young age helped make him a fan of improv and sketch. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Acting from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urban, while in conjunction studying with Second City, one of the world’s premier comedy schools, and participating in numerous improv groups. In 2003, Kite made the move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

The first major project Kite booked upon arrival to Los Angeles, was a ‘Bee Movie’ promo with Jerry Seinfeld. Up until that point, Kite had been booking a plethora of national commercials, as well as independent shorts and films – but the promo for the film helped him get into the theatrical world, and would ultimately help him land his most notable projects to date. In 2009, Kite booked the pilot episode of FOX’s “Raising Hope” where he played opposite Bijou Phillips. He also wrote, produced, and starred in his own sketch comedy TV pilot called “The Skokie-Jo and Shappy Show.” While working on these projects, Kite was a part of the Cage Match Competition with iO West Theater, performing head to head long form improv. His team set the national cagematch record in 2010, winning 52 weeks in a row [a tremendous feat] and then retiring.

In 2010 Kite went on to be cast on a new series for FOX called “In the Flow with Affion Crockett,” produced by Jamie Foxx [will premiere in August 2011] and also became the face of Muscle Milk – which showcased some of his best characters and infiltrated TV screens and radio nationwide.

Aside from his acting, Kite has a huge passion for writing and is currently putting the finishing touches on his first full length feature film, “The Walk On”, which he will also star in, and produce. Kite also is an expert mimic, boasting over 50 impressions and dialects that include Vince Vaughn, Tom Hanks, Seth Rogen, Liam Neeson, and Robert Downey Jr. He is an active supporter of various autism and breast cancer charities, and looks forward to supporting them more in the years to come.
