Jason Blum Unveils Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Trailer

Jason Blum debuts first Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 trailer at CinemaCon, teasing terrifying new mysteries ahead of the sequel’s theatrical release.

Blumhouse founder Jason Blum knows how to put on a show. Taking the stage at CinemaCon in full animatronic-style costume, he surprised attendees with the first look at Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s horror hit.

“The first Five Nights at Freddy’s was Blumhouse’s biggest hit,” Jason Blum declared, referencing the film’s massive success despite its simultaneous release on Peacock. But this time, he assured exhibitors, the sequel will be an exclusive theatrical release, set to hit the big screen on December 5, 2025.

The newly revealed trailer hints at more nightmarish mysteries unfolding inside the infamous Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. In the footage, Elizabeth Lail ominously warns Josh Hutcherson’s character, Mike, “They’re out there, Mike.” When he asks for clarification, she responds chillingly, “Everywhere.”

Returning from the original film are Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard, with Emma Tammi back in the director’s chair. The sequel continues the adaptation of the beloved yet terrifying video game franchise created by Scott Cawthon, which first debuted in 2014. Tammi co-wrote the script with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback.

The first Five Nights at Freddy’s film, which followed Josh Hutcherson’s character as a night security guard discovering sinister animatronic secrets, became a box office phenomenon. Despite its day-and-date streaming release, it secured Blumhouse’s biggest opening weekend ever with an $80 million domestic debut.

Universal originally confirmed the sequel at last year’s CinemaCon, and Tammi had previously teased that there were “some loose ends” from the first film that needed to be resolved in a follow-up. Now, with the trailer out in the wild, fans can start piecing together what new horrors await in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Horror enthusiasts won’t have to wait much longer—the animatronics are coming back to haunt theaters this December.
