The new Sex and the City reboot is happening but without one of our favorite gals. Samantha Jones will not be joining her group for this new adventure. Which leads to the question, what does the show look like without her?
When you’re a single woman looking for love, especially in a city atmosphere, Sex and the City is your guidebook. What happens when you get older, though, and still want the lessons of married women living in the city?
Well, those questions will be answered soon as our favorite city gals will be returning to our screens for the next chapter in their lives, well, almost all of them. It will be titled And Just Like That…, a well-known phrase to lovers of the original show and films. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis are all returning to portray their roles of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, respectively. However, it looks Kim Cattrall, who portrayed Samantha, will not be returning. Which leads us to wonder, what does this show look like without Samantha?
Speculations have been popping up all over the internet about how they will explain her absence, some even suggesting they will kill the character off!
Personally, I think that would be a terrible thing to do, so here are 3 other options for how to continue this show without one of its iconic characters.
She’s living her best life!
Samantha is not one to be tied down, as we saw that even with Smith, she couldn’t accept a life where she didn’t have total freedom. A great way to have Samantha be a part of the show while not being present would be to have her travel all across the country and check in with the girls by phone. They could make the scenes one-way conversations or just have the girls discuss what she’s doing during their hangouts.
Her job has her on location somewhere.
We all know Samantha loves to work. It could be quite possible that she has been taken away for the time being to handle a client. Hey, she could even be back in LA handling a job for Smith. Just because they aren’t together doesn’t mean she wouldn’t still be a kick-ass manager. Much like the other scenario, she can still check in with the girls this way, even if we don’t see her.
She’s back with Smith.
While not the best option for Samantha, especially after that killer last line, it is plausible. Samantha has a turn of heart after time away and decides that she and Smith are meant to be. It would give an explanation as to why Samantha is no longer present, and same as the other 2, the girls could still be keeping up with her.
The best part about all 3 of these options is it gives away for Samantha to come back if Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker can get past their beef.
And Just Like That… does not have a release date yet, but it will premiere on HBO Max.
