Last night, I went to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City screening and got to see the first episode! I am not going to give any spoilers anyway so don’t worry. However, I am going to give you guys a little tease and let you know what you need to know about these ladies leading up to the season.
First, I want to say that this franchise will NOT disappoint. There is glamour, there is love, real friendships and of course some juicy drama. I can promise you guys, we are #blessed to have this new housewives franchise about to enter our lives. On the first episode we will meet the six dynamic housewives; Jen Shah, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose and Mary Cosby. Every single one of these ladies is nothing short of fabulous and they all have something unique about them.
Starting off with, dare I say the queen of the show, Jen Shah. Jen will definitely have the biggest personality in the group. She got the middle spot in the housewives intros and spoiler alert, she got the first scene. Jen will be, “the Karen Huger” of Potomac, “the Bethenny” of New York, “the LVP” of Beverly Hills, and of course “the Teresa” of New Jersey. Jen will definitely be the housewife who holds the group together with her hilarious sense of humor and her loyalty to her friends. In the first episode, we will get to meet Jen’s husband and two children. And let me tell you, the Shah’s live a very over the top, boujee lifestyle. Just what we want to see of a housewife on any franchise. Jen Shah’s husband Sharrieff Shah is a former football player and current Utah Coach. You can tell how much money they have based on how fabulous all of Jen’s outfits are. But, what is so endearing about Jen, is that she converted from Mormomism to Islam. Jen grew up a Mormon, but when she married her African American husband and had kids, she decided to convert because the mormon culture and her church wasn’t accepting of her new family. Jen is extremely loyal to her family and her friends.
After Jen, we will meet Heather Gay. The fact Heather’s last name is “gay” is extreamly appropriate since I have no doubt all the gays will fall in love with her. Heather will definitely be competing with Jen for that center spot in the housewives intro. However, Heather and Jen are definitely the friendship that we will be most invested in and will hold this group together. Heather owns a beauty lab in Salt Lake where they do laser and plastic surgery. Heather has had difficulty fitting into the mormon culture since her divorce from her husband five years ago. She also has three daughters who she loves dearly. Heather will be the MOST relatable and vulnerable with viewers.
After Heather, we get to meet the very classy Meredith Banks. Meredith is the most well known around town due to her very successful jewelry company. Meredith has a very high celebrity clientele including stars like Rihanna and Chelsea Handler. Meredith is married to her husband, Seth, and has three beautiful children. But, the best part about Meredith, is her 21-year-old gay son Brooks, who will have a lot of air time in the first episode. I can’t remember if we have ever had a gay housewives son on any franchise, but Brooks is going to be a hot commodity among many gay viewers. We all know The Housewives fans are for the girls and the gays! Brooks will be all of our spirit animals and I can already predict a spin-off series for him.
Next up we have the very sassy, but elegant Lisa Barlow. Lisa has a tequila line called Vida Tequila. A housewife with a tequila company.. sign me up! Lisa has had a long friendship with Jen and Meredith and it’s safe to say these three will definitely be a trio. Lisa is married to her husband John and they have two young boys together. Lisa will have a beef with Heather and without getting too much into it, I like them both so much so I won’t pick a side.
Whitney Rose. We will be introduced to Whitney as the cousin of Heather. Whenever there is a family relationship on housewives, we all get very invested. (Teresa and Melissa; Kim and Kyle). Whitney is the type of girl who has always wanted a picture-perfect fairytale life. Whitney comes from a long line of Mormonism, but is no longer accepted by the mormon culture after marrying her now husband Justin who is 18 years older than her. The way Whitney and Justin met is not by any means ordinary, but I will save that story for you guys to watch on the first episode. Whitney also works in the skincare business, owning the company Irisandbeau. Whitney is very sweet and much more soft spoken then the other ladies.
Lastly, this brings us to Mary Cosby, who will be introduced as Whitney’s friend. Mary is quirky, has diarrhea of the mouth and is married to her step-grandfather. Yes you read that right. When Mary’s grandmother died it was her wish that one of her grandchildren married her second husband and took over the church of their family. Mary is the first lady of her church. We will get to meet Mary’s step-grandfather, and now husband on the first episode. For those of you who think that it’s weird she married her step-grandfather; I can assure you the other housewives think it’s weird too. Mary will also get into with Jen Shah. I am not going to tell you why, but all I am going to say is that Jen Shah is not the one you want to mess with.
This franchise will NOT disappoint and really are all for a treat with this one! I can’t wait for everyone to watch! The first episode premieres next wednesday Nov 11. At 9pm on Bravo.
