Netflix’s new live-action adaptation of the anime classic Cowboy Bebop just came out. Here are the reactions from both fans and critics.
For those who watch the late 90s anime Cowboy Bebop, the anticipation over the Netflix live-action remake of the classic is finally here! All episodes of the show came out on November 19th and fans were quick to binge the entire season. Cowboy Bebop is a unique mix between science fiction and western. Since the show came out, it has received various different reactions from fans and critics. Here is what everyone is saying about the show on social media.
Nearly finished with S1 of Netflix’s #CowboyBebop. It’s fun. Only so many have proven to know how to do live-action anime, and this is no Wachowski movie. That said, the core trio is great casting, some remixed ideas work more than others, and the music rules. Review Monday. pic.twitter.com/nbvvoeB2If

Film critic Aaron Neuwirth loved the casting for the iconic trio and the music in the remake definitely is playlist-worthy.
The social embargo for Netflix’s #CowboyBebop is up, and I can finally say that I really dug the first season. I’ll have more to say on Nov 15 when my full review goes up, but fans of the anime should rest easy. It’s solid!

Alessandro Fillaric, editor for CNET, agrees that the live-action remake is a blast to watch!
To clarify, we’ve seen all episodes of the new live action #CowboyBebop, full review coming on @GogglerMY on Monday. It gets a lot right, but some additions just didn’t work for me AT ALL. https://t.co/2gTUUX3FqY

However, some fans of the original thought it didn’t capture all of the essences of the 90’s anime.
Okay, that wasn’t that bad. Not as amazing as I could have hoped, but nowhere as bad as the reviews were making it out to be. #CowboyBebop

It is definitely hard to translate a space cowboy anime into a live-action show. Some fans think that all things considered, although nothing can beat the original, the Netflix adaptation did a good job.
I didn’t think it was possible, but it’s at least as good as the original. #CowboyBebop @bebopnetflix @CowboyBebop pic.twitter.com/O07k2FG071

On the flip side, some fans of the original are saying it is at least just as good, if not better.
I can get over how good @_mustafashakir_ is at Jet’s voice. He really nails it. #CowboyBebop

If there’s one thing we can say for certain, they definitely nailed the casting!
It appears that Cowboy Bebop is receiving rather mixed reviews from its audience. However, space-western is a hard genre to come across. If you’re looking for something refreshing, Cowboy Bebop will definitely accomplish that! Check it out and decide for yourself what reviews you agree with.
