Hercules West End Musical: Here is What We Know

We can’t wait to go the distance to watch Disney’s Hercules premiere on the West End! Here is everything we know about its run planned for 2025!

Disney’s Hercules was released on June 13, 1997 displaying the story of Hercules, son of Zeus and Hera, as he is snatched by Hades, raised as a mortal… well half-mortal, and grows to discover his true potential and prove himself as a god. They just announced at the D23 Expo that they are bringing Hercules, the iconic Disney film, back! But this time, it’s a stage musical! Here’s everything we know thus far!

Backstory

Hercules isn’t the only Disney screen to stage adaptation, from Beauty and the Beast, to Frozen, to Tarzan, there have been stage productions of many of Disney’s iconic films! Disney just announced that a fan favorite, The Greatest Showman, is also getting its own musical to debut in upcoming years!

The West End production of Hercules is not the beginning of Hercules the musical! Hercules actually held its world premiere at the Delacorte Theater in New York as part of its Public Works program in 2019! Then it was reprised at the Paper Mill Playhouse in March 2023! Since March of 2024, the musical has been running in Hamburg’s Theater Neue Flora in Germany!

Cast & Crew

A preview of Hercules was shown at the D23 Expo just this past week, where Bradley Gibson sang “Go The Distance” to announce the musical’s upcoming West End run! Like its current run in Hamburg, Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw will act as director and choreographer! 

As for the music, Hercules features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by David Zippel, including their songs from the original film with several new songs joining for the stage! Hercules will feature the classic and iconic Disney favorites such as “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero,” and “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love).”

Though Bradley Gibson and others performed at D23, there hasn’t been an official released cast list just yet, but from the premiere Hercules is going to knock our socks off! We hope to see some of the same actors from its Paper Mill Playhouse run such as Bradley Gibson as Hercules, Isabella McCalla as Meg, James Monroe Iglehart as Phil, and Shuler Hensley as Hades!

Premiere Date

Disney‘s Hercules will open at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End in summer 2025! Not only will it open on the West End, this new stage show is set to show on the Disney Destiny when it sets sail in 2025!
