The beloved golf comedy franchise is making its long-awaited return, and fans are getting their first look behind the scenes of Happy Gilmore 2.
The highly anticipated sequel, set to debut on Netflix in 2025, brings back Adam Sandler in one of his most iconic roles alongside a star-studded cast that blends Hollywood talent with real-life golf superstars.
Excitement for Happy Gilmore 2 ramped up when Christopher McDonald, reprising his role as the infamous Shooter McGavin, made a surprise appearance at the WM Phoenix Open press conference. PGA TOUR player and Full Swing star Justin Thomas found himself upstaged as Christopher McDonald took the mic to unveil exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the film. The clip, which will be featured in Full Swing Season 2 premiering on Netflix on February 25, gave fans a taste of what’s to come in Happy’s next adventure on the green.
Directed by Kyle Newacheck, Happy Gilmore 2 brings together a unique mix of Hollywood stars and golf pros. Alongside Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen returns as Virginia Venit, and the film introduces new faces, including Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (better known as Bad Bunny), NFL star Travis Kelce, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
But perhaps the biggest surprises are the inclusion of some of golf’s biggest names. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris will all be appearing, blurring the line between the world of professional golf and the fictional antics of Happy Gilmore.
Adam Sandler, who also serves as a producer, teams up once again with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy to pen the script. They’re joined by producers Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds, with a team of executive producers that includes Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, Dennis Dugan, Barry Bernardi, David Bausch, and Dan Bulla.
While plot details remain under wraps, the logline keeps it simple: “Happy Gilmore returns!” Given the original film’s legacy as one of the most quotable sports comedies of all time, fans can expect the same blend of absurd humor, underdog triumphs, and, of course, some heated rivalries on the golf course.
With its mix of nostalgia, fresh faces, and golf’s biggest stars, Happy Gilmore 2 is shaping up to be a must-watch when it hits Netflix in 2025.
