As we wait for the upcoming season, set for the summer, we have a breakdown of the new Bachelorettes!
Bachelor nation is in for a double treat! On The Bachelor’s After the Final Rose Monday night, host Emmanuel Acho announced two upcoming Bachelorettes: Katie Thurston and Michelle Young. Thurston’s season will air this summer, while Young’s will take place in the fall. Here’s what we know about the women ready to take on the role of the bachelorette.
Katie Thurston
Thurston made a memorable entrance on Matt James’s season when she introduced herself with a vibrator in hand. She became a fan favorite after her outspoken nature on topics like sex positivity and women empowerment. She continually stood against toxicity among the girls in the house, being an advocate for anti-bullying. She was eliminated in week six after her first one on one with James.
The 30-year-old Washington native works as a bank marketing manager. She made waves on social media this summer for her honest and open approach to talking about sex. She fills her TikTok and Instagram, called @ventwithkatie, with posts on the importance of communication regarding sexuality and just being totally and utterly herself.
@ventwithkatieSince they want to mute my video, let’s try reposting without hashtags and see what happens. I read the rules. I didn’t break any here.

The new bachelorette also loves cats as she posts many videos and photos of her pet cat Tommy.
Thurston expressed on After the Final Rose how she’s at a point in her life where she’s ready for marriage. “I’m ready to find love, and not just, like, the temporary kind,” she told Acho, “I’m talking forever, my husband, and I’m in a place in my life where I feel like I’m the best version of me.”
Former bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will take over Chris Harrison’s job as the hosts for Thurston’s upcoming season.
Michelle Young
Young was one of the five additions later in James’s season. The 27-year-old Minnesota native had instant chemistry with James, as she was one of his final two. James let her go in a tearful goodbye in the finale.
She studied at Bradley University while also playing Division I basketball. Currently, she is a teacher at an elementary school in Minnesota. Young cares deeply for her students as her Bachelor bio states she “focuses on preparing her students to be the next generation of community leaders.”
The upcoming bachelorette only recently got an Instagram in April of 2020 and has 13 posts on her account at the moment.
Young shared her confusion about having two bachelorettes but expressed gratitude to share the experience with Thurston. “I was a little nervous, but once I found out it was two different seasons, I was here for it.” she told Acho, “I’m excited that I will have somebody to bond over with this and share notes as we go.”
We can’t wait to watch these women find love! Until then, we’ll be getting our roses ready.
