Thanks to her acting projects and music, Olivia Rodrigo has become one of the biggest stars in entertainment today. To see how she’s risen to fame, we’re taking a look at her entire career with Old Navy, American Girl, Disney, and more!
Olivia Rodrigo is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, Gen-Z celebrity right now. Since starring in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+, she has quickly risen to fame. Her music is everywhere and we cannot get enough, but, to see where she started, we are taking a look back over her entire career.
Olivia Rodrigo made her first onscreen appearance for an Old Navy commercial in 2015. At 3:25, you can just catch a glimpse of her head! She might not have had a big role in this commercial, but it was a stepping stone towards her future success.
That same year, Olivia starred as Grace Thomas in An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success. The movie follows Grace, a young baker, as she takes a trip to Paris and later competes in MasterChef Junior to help her grandparents’ bakery.
Though Grace Stirs Up Success wasn’t a Disney movie, Disney Channel premiered the movie in 2016, just days before their newest show Bizaardvark aired. This was because Olivia Rodrigo was also set to star in the new comedy series as Paige Olvera. The series followed Paige and her best friend Frankie, two teenagers who post funny songs and videos on the Internet. The sitcom aired for three seasons, coming to an end in 2019.

But it was in 2019 that Olivia really shot to fame. That year in February, she was cast as Nina Salazar-Roberts in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. This series tells the story of the theater students at East High School as they stage musical productions, all while dealing with the drama that comes with being high schoolers. The first and second seasons are currently streaming on Disney+, and a third season is currently in the works.
And not only has Olivia starred in this series, she has also gotten the opportunity to write songs for the show’s soundtrack. She is credited for “All I Want” and co-wrote “Just For A Moment” with co-star Joshua Bassett.
Fans loved the songs she wrote so it wasn’t a surprise that Olivia’s debut single “Driver’s License” hit number one on Billboard Hot 100 and broke records in 2021. She went on to drop two more singles, both of which were quick favorites, and then released her debut album SOUR later that year.

And she’s not stopping now! Olivia Rodrigo has announced that her documentary film driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) will be coming to Disney+. You’ll have to wait till March 25, 2022 to stream the film, but hopefully the trailer can hold you over till then:
We absolutely love Olivia Rodrigo and we cannot wait to see what more she has in store for the future!
