Gen Zs Guide To 2024: The Year of Reboots And Sequels!

We all have those movies that we just love to watch on repeat and with the amount of sequels, reboots, and remakes being released, it wouldn’t be surprising if your favorites won’t be back on the screen in some aspect soon! Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated one’s 2024 has in store.

2024 is seemingly the year of remakes, reboots, and sequels! Many continuations and adaptations of the characters we love are headed back for the big screen and boy are we ready! Here is a breakdown of what you need to know about this year’s sequel-filled lineup!

Deadpool & Wolverine

This hot, steamy and action-packed superhero mashup is hitting the screens July 26th! Fans have been itching to see their favorite misfit superhero back on the screen ever since the release of Deadpool and Deadpool 2! This time Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool is joined by Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine from X-Men! As Wolverine is recovering from his injuries, he stumbles across our sarcastic, yet lovable Deadpool. Despite their clashing attitudes and personalities, they must team up to defeat a common foe! This film has been rated R and viewer discretion is advised!

MaXXXine

Maxine F****** Minx is back and better than ever! MaXXXine recently released in theaters on July 5th, 2024 and is sitting Fresh with Rotten Tomatoes! For those unaware, MaXXXine follows the events of its predecessor X and its prequel Pearl which both released in 2022. MaXXXine was a highly anticipated sequel that would wrap up Maxine’s story and give her the life that she finally deserves! If you plan on going to see this thriller who-dunnit slasher.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beet- You thought I was going to say it? Everyone’s favorite Micheal Keaton is reprising his ever iconic role as Beetlejuice in its sequel this year on September 6th! Winona Ryder reprises her character Lydia Deetz, now grown up after the events of the original Beetlejuice. This sequel stars Jenna Ortega as she joins the Deetz family and brings that oh-so-rebellious spirit back into their home. When Lydia’s rebellious teen daughter, Astrid Deetz, discovers a portal to the afterlife deep in the basement, the name Beetlejuice is inevitably repeated three times, inviting him to wreak havoc in the Deetz family home all over again!

Moana 2

How far will you go to see this highly anticipated Disney Pixar sequel? With the trailer playing before Inside Out 2 in theaters, fans were ecstatic to see one of their favorite princesses back up on the screen! Many have their doubts about this Pixar sequel, especially now that singer, songwrited Lin Manuel Miranda will not be returning to assist in this film’s music! Fortunately, Disney has hired Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, writers of the TikTok sensation Bridgerton: The Musical, to co-write Moana 2’s surely stellar musical lineup! Catch Maui and Moana on the big screen on November 27, 2024!

Smile 2

Have you ever seen a smile that just sent shivers down your spine? If you haven’t caught a glimpse of that particular one in Smile, then this movie might come as a shock to you! A mysterious demon possesses those who witness the smile :)!  It  will haunt its victims until they fully succumb to its power. It then passes on this horror to the next person in a gruesome, horrible, vile manner. After the events of the original Smile film, a global pop sensation now finds herself cursed by this demon and must face her past for a chance to escape the torture in Smile 2. This horror flick is on our 2024 Must Watch List and it should be on yours too when it releases October 18, 2024!

Twisters

Now if you haven’t heard of Twister, oh my are you missing out! Twister released on May 10, 1996 and quickly became a household name as a group of amateur, but spirited storm chasers trying to deploy a tornado research device during a severe outbreak in Oklahoma! Now in 2024, a new crew of tornado wranglers are on the hunt to test new technologies and possibly disrupt a tornado! With new faces like Glen Powell and Kiernan Shipka, these wranglers have a lot to live up to and we are sure that they will! Be sure to buy your tickets to Twisters now for its release on July 19th, 2024!

There are many more sequels, prequels, and remakes to be discussed this year. A total of 23 films that debut on the big screen this year will follow an already beloved predecessor.
