S1E1 – Meeting Issa
When we are introduced to Issa’s character at the beginning of the show, she is giving a presentation to a class of middle schoolers for her job’s community outreach program. Instead of asking her about the program, the kids begin poking fun at Issa and asking questions about her personal life. The scene not only serves as a great icebreaker and introduction to Issa, but it sets the tone for the rest of the show, and the humor to follow.
S2E1 – Issa’s Best Friend Song
Known for her quirky, hilarious raps and unique cadence. This scene showcases Issa’s goofy nature and showcases the bond that she and Molly share. An eventual tradition the two share.
S2E8 – The Race
This is a fun episode that reflects on the past month in each character’s life, starting with a race they all attended. This means of storytelling is an interesting new way to peek into everyone’s life as this chapter comes to an end. However, Kelly took the cake in this episode, really playing into her character’s naturally comedic nature.
S3E4 – Skinny Dipping
After running into a guy from her Lyft, Issa takes him on a tour of the town until they eventually end up at her childhood home. We get to learn more about Issa’s upbringing in this episode as she explores this new relationship with Nathan. As they discuss their life goals and swim in the pool of her old home, the two are rudely interrupted by the new owner’s return home; they rush out of the pool, ending their game of truth or dare.
S4E6 – Sip N’ Dash
After befriending a group of strangers at a Sip N’ Paint event, Issa decides to join them for dinner and drinks. Upon taking a bathroom break, she returns to the table to find that the girls dashed and left her with a bill. Even though the aftermath was a figment of Issa’s imagination, it was funny to see how she wanted to handle that situation.
