Fubo, known for its sports-focused live TV streaming services, is raising the price of all its English-language plans by $5 per month, including the recently launched Essential plan.
The Essential plan debuted in December at $80 per month, offering one of the best prices for a comprehensive streaming package. However, as noted by David Satin and Matt Tamanini of Streamable.com, that competitive pricing lasted only about seven weeks.
With this increase, the Essential plan now costs $85 per month, making it more expensive than Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV, though still cheaper than DIRECTV STREAM. Michael Timmermann of Michaelsaves.com highlighted this change in his price tracker, noting that the Essential and Pro plans now share the same $85 price tag.
The key difference lies in the additional features offered by the Pro plan. While both plans include 210 to 215 channels, the Pro plan also provides access to regional sports networks (RSNs), which are crucial for local MLB, NBA, and NHL coverage. These RSNs, valued at up to $16 per month, include FanDuel Sports Network channels and the Marquee Sports Network in Chicago, offering a major advantage for sports fans.
This change comes at a critical time for sports enthusiasts, as the NBA and NHL seasons intensify and MLB action kicks off in March. Fubo’s focus on delivering localized sports content makes it a valuable option for fans, even with the increased cost.
For those looking to keep up with their favorite teams, Fubo’s Pro plan might still be worth the higher price, especially as finding access to local sports channels becomes increasingly difficult.
