With Inside Out being released almost nine years ago on June 19, 2015, it is no surprise that fans are freaking out about the new trailer. Released on November 9th, 2023, it quickly became the biggest trailer to ever be released by Disney garnering over 157 million views within the first 24-hours. This trailer overtook Frozen 2 which has held the record for most views within 24-hours for the past four years! With all this excitement surrounding this trailer here is everything you need to know about the upcoming film!

The Plot

The original Inside Out gave us insight into the mind of then 11 year old Riley who had just moved to San Francisco. It seems as though in the sequel that Riley has settled in nicely to her new life! As we move into the newest adventure within the world of Inside Out, the trailer gives us insight into what to expect.

In this movie, Riley is now thirteen, which means she is finally a teenager! It seems like this movie is going to tackle the process of growing up and going through puberty and because of this, things are changing up in headquarters. After the demolition of the old space, new emotions begin to show up. So far the only one we know of is Anxiety, but she seems to have brought some friends with her!

The Cast and Crew

While we are not sure who the new emotions are or who will be voicing them, we do know that Anxiety will be played by Maya Hawke, as her debut role in a Pixar film! Returning to the production is Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger. Taking over as Fear is Tony Hale, who is best known for his work in Arrested Development and for voicing Forky in another beloved Pixar film, Toy Story 4. Disgust will also have a new voice thanks to Liza Lapira best known for her roles in the first Fast and Furious as well as Crazy, Stupid, Love. While we are sad to see Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling go, we are so excited to see what these new castmates have to offer!

Directing the film will be Kelsey Mann who is previously known for working on other Pixar movies such as The Good Dinosaur as a writer and Onward in the animation department. Returning to produce the project is Pixar veteran Mark Nielsen who has worked on other films such as the original Inside Out and Cars. Credited with writing the film is Meg LeFauvre who wrote the first Inside Out, so we know the story is in good hands!

With such a powerhouse cast and crew we are so excited to see the final product! This movie seems geared towards looking at how we change as we reach our teenage years and it will be an interesting maturation of the first film.

The movie releases in theaters on June 14th, 2024 so mark your calendars!
