Priscilla Presley’s romance and life with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll will be the main focus of the movie. The trailer teased a glimpse into the early days of their relationship, their wedding day, and the birth of their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. A24 released a synopsis of the film on their website, saying “When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a gentle best friend. Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.”

The story is coming to life through writer and director Sophia Coppola’s lens, and this will be her third collaboration with A24, following On The Rocks (2020) and The Bling Ring (2013). In an October 2022 interview with Vogue, she said, “I was just so interested in Priscilla’s story and her perspective on what it all felt like to grow up as a teenager in Graceland. She was going through all the stages of young womanhood in such an amplified world — kind of similarly to Marie Antoinette.” Coppola said in the same interview that the movie’s script closely follows Presley’s memoir, and is essentially an edited down version of it.
