Demi Lovato calls out President Trump’s handling of the United States in her latest single, causing a lot of online controversy.
Demi Lovato is making her music count this election season. She just released her latest single Commander In Chief calling out the President of the United States for his mishandling of racial injustice and the coronavirus pandemic.
In the song she sings, “Commander in Chief, honestly. If I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep. Seriously, do you even know the truth? We are in a state of crisis, people are dying while you line your pockets.”
People have taken to social media to call out the singer for getting political posting comments.
She is responding to the people who are trying to tell her that musicians shouldn’t get political. Lovato posted her response saying that “we are all citizens of the same country and we are humans with opinions as well.” She even added that this is a piece of art that stands for something she believes in as a queer, Hispanic woman and will not silence her views to please her audience.
In the song she goes on to sing, “Commander in Chief, how does it feel to still be able to breath?” Expressing the great loss that our country had faced with over 215,000 deaths to the coronavirus pandemic and the more than 7 million people who have tested positive for the virus.
Through all the promotion for her new single she continues to remind people to register and vote on November 3. Teasers she has been sharing for her music video include people of all ethnicities and ages coming together to “Make America United Again” her motto for the United States.
