Sideshow and Janus Films have officially announced the release dates for The Shrouds, the highly anticipated new film from visionary director David Cronenberg and starring Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, and Guy Pearce.
Starring Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, Academy Award nominee Guy Pearce, and Sandrine Holt, The Shrouds follows Karsh (Vincent Cassel), a grieving businessman who invents GraveTech, a revolutionary technology that allows people to monitor their deceased loved ones. When a series of graves—including his wife’s—are desecrated, Karsh embarks on a relentless pursuit to uncover the truth behind the attacks.
The Shrouds had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the prestigious Palme d’Or. The film also made waves at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival, further cementing David Cronenberg’s status as one of cinema’s boldest storytellers.
The film is produced by Saïd Ben Saïd, Martin Katz, and Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, in collaboration with SBS, Prospero Pictures, and Saint Laurent Productions. Additional support comes from Telefilm Canada, Eurimages, Ontario Creates, Sphere Films, Crave, and CBC Films, along with Canal+, OCS, and the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée.
Sideshow and Janus Films have established themselves as powerhouses in distributing critically acclaimed films. Their recent releases include Gints Zibalodis’ Flow (which received two Academy Award nominations) and Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light, which has surpassed $1 million at the box office.
With a gripping narrative, a stellar cast, and David Cronenberg’s signature eerie storytelling, The Shrouds promises to be one of the must-watch films of 2025. Mark your calendars for its theatrical release on April 18 in select cities and nationwide on April 25.
