Dancing with the Stars is taking us back with Grease Night! Here’s our Superlatives for this week’s dances, costumes and more!
**Elimination Spoilers**
Dancing with the Stars is spicing things up with “Grease Night” this season! This week’s episode took us through the entire musical, and a rollercoaster of emotions, starting with “Summer Nights” and ending with “We Go Together”.
There was a shocking elimination in this week’s episode, which left us saying goodbye to our favorite Spice Girl, Mel C. This elimination was not one we expected to see so soon, especially since Melanie has been killing it on the dancefloor! There were quite a few other celebs we could have seen sent home instead, but sadly we don’t make the rules. Such a tough goodbye.
Here are our superlatives for “Grease Night” on Dancing with the Stars!
Best Theatrics: Melanie C & Gleb Savchenko
Despite her departure this week, Melanie C and her partner Gleb Savchenko put on quite a show with their Quickstep to “You’re The One That I Want”. While many performances had quite the set up this week, this dance really captured the essence of the scene they were recreating. Such a fun dance to watch!
Most Surprising: Kenya Moore & Brandon Armstrong
This emotional Rumba to “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” really got us! Kenya danced beautifully, and her story about her grandmother made the performance that much more special. This dance wasn’t one we saw coming, but we can’t wait to see more of this pair next week!
Most Improved: Suni Lee & Sasha Farber
Suni Lee is a fierce competitor, there’s no question! The olympian has been killing her performances each week but has made it clear she’s been struggling with putting personality into her dances. This week, Suni really stepped up in her Charleston to “Born To Hand Jive. While her performance choreography-wise was on point, her flair and personality were clearly improved. We’ve loved seeing Suni come out of her shell this season, hoping to see even more of her personality by the end of the competition!
Best Costumes: Olivia Jade & Val Chmerkovskiy
This category is truly a toss-up, as nearly every male on the show was dressed the same. Olivia Jade opened the show with a Foxtrot to “Summer Nights” and honestly, she just rocks that wig better than anyone! Plus, she featured a cute picture of her dressed up as a Pink Lady for Halloween as a kid. Now we can’t ignore JoJo’s, Amanda’s, or Mel C’s costumes either, but since they’re taking home other superlatives for “Grease Night”, Olivia Jade snags the award for best costume!
Best Dance of the Night: Amanda Kloots & Alan Bersten AND JoJo Siwa & Jenna Johnson
Now this category was truly quite difficult, so we’ve come to a tie.
Starting off with Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten’s Viennese Waltz to “Beauty School Dropout”, this performance was everything we could’ve hoped for. Amanda’s effortless performance really showcased that in “Grease Night”! Singer Frankie Avalon even performed the song live for the performance, so that’s how you know it was good. Everything about this dance was elegant and so fitting for the song. Brb going to rewatch it!!
Now on to JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson, who performed a Foxtrot to “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee (Reprise)”. This dance was similarly elegant to Amanda’s, everything flowed so beautifully, it felt as though JoJo and Jenna were made to perform it together. Plus, the costumes were perfection as always! We’ve really enjoyed watching JoJo grow into such an elegant performer and confident woman on this show, and dances like this one just remind us how great she is!
“Grease Night” was a success, and although there were about 8 Danny Zuckos, it was definitely a fun watch. Are you ready for next week’s Halloween Horror Night??
