Cristin Milioti Demands Justice for Made for Love

Cristin Milioti calls out Max for shelving Made for Love, says it’s time to release the show that tackled tech culture and featured a stellar cast.

Cristin Milioti is ready to crack open the vault. While promoting her return to Black Mirror in the “U.S.S. Callister” sequel episode “Into Infinity,” the Emmy-nominated actress took a moment to champion another fan-favorite project that’s vanished from streaming: Made for Love. The Max original dark comedy, which starred Cristin Milioti alongside Ray Romano and Billy Magnussen, was wiped from the platform during the infamous content purge that followed WarnerMedia’s 2022 merger with Discovery Inc. Now, Cristin Milioti is calling on networks to do the right thing.

While speaking to journalists at a press event for Black Mirror Season 7, Cristin Milioti shared heartfelt thoughts about her shelved series Made for Love, a dark comedy that aired for two critically acclaimed seasons on Max before being unceremoniously removed from the platform during a massive content purge.

“I have a lot of heartbreak over that series,” Cristin Milioti confessed. “That series… it’s locked in a vault right now.” The actress, who played Hazel Green, a woman escaping her tech-tycoon husband only to discover a chip implanted in her brain, said the show’s themes are more relevant than ever.

“There was so much in that show—especially now with these tech bros in power and with Elon Musk,” she said. “I also thought that show had so much to say about technology.”

Starring opposite Billy Magnussen as the unsettling Byron Gogol and Ray Romano as Hazel’s eccentric father, Cristin Milioti reflected on how powerful the series was—not just thematically, but emotionally. “That father-daughter relationship was so beautiful,” she added. “And I thought Billy’s work on that show was so gorgeous, and Ray’s. I mean, it just was such a great cast, and our writers… were so brilliant.”

The show was one of many casualties of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, with titles like Westworld, Raised By Wolves, and The Time Traveler’s Wife also disappearing from Max. Made for Love was based on the novel by Alissa Nutting and quickly became a critical darling thanks to its sharp satire and genre-bending storyline.

Cristin Milioti’s frustration is palpable—and understandable. “It was part of the tax write-off,” she said. “So it sucks because we worked on that show for like, three years… It’s not like on a reel of film running in a basement. It’s like on a USB drive somewhere. So can we just get it out into the world?”

As fans rediscover her in Black Mirror’s new installment “Into Infinity,” where she reunites with Billy Magnussen in the sequel to “U.S.S. Callister,” many are echoing her call to revive Made for Love.

“Justice for Made for Love,” Cristin Milioti said simply. “Release Made for Love.”
