Christy Carlson Romano shared the details of the incident on Instagram on February 8, posting a video that showed injuries to her right eye and forehead. She explained that she had taken her husband to shoot clay pigeons as a birthday gift when another party present at the location fired unsafely in the wrong direction, hitting her in the face.

Her husband immediately responded, assessing her injuries and rushing her to the hospital. The Disney Channel star stated that she was struck in five places, with one shot landing less than an inch from her right eye. A fragment became lodged behind her eye, and doctors have deemed it too risky to remove at this time. She assured her followers that she is currently able to see normally and that medical professionals will continue to monitor her condition.
