ABC executive shares how ‘Selling Sunset’ star Chrishell Stause was supposed to be ‘The Bachelorette.’
Chrishell Stause is everywhere today, but back in 2007 she was a soap star on All My Children, who met with ABC executive Robert Mills who helps decide who the lead for The Bachelorette will be. Today she is currently competing on Dancing With The Stars and starring in Netflix’s Selling Sunset.
On Nick Viall’s podcast “Viall Files,” he sits down with Robert Mills and talks about the lunch he had with Stause over 10 years ago. “She would never remember this. I’ve actually had lunch with Chrishell, this was about 10 or 11 years ago, to talk about being the Bachelorette.”
This took place before she met her ex-husband Justin Hurtley and Mills thought that she should have been the bachelorette before Bachelor Nation saw the end of Jason Mesnick’s season of The Bachelor.
“I was convinced, I was like, ‘This is the Bachelorette,’” Mills said. “This was before we even said we were going to do a Bachelorette. At that point, it was like, ‘How do we not do that?’” he says of DeAnna Pappas.
Pappas was one of the two women that Mesnick sent home at the final rose ceremony, when he was supposed to propose to one of them. Fans, including Ellen DeGeneres rallied around her and they decided to go with DeAnna.
Strause has seen the episode of the Viall File’s podcast and even shared it to her Instagram story writing “BTS scoop! ”.
She even went on to sympathize with the current bachelorette, Clare Crawley saying “I just want to do the Clare version where I walk in, grab my man and we go! We are 39. We are tired.”
