Charli XCX Ultimate Brat Summer Playlist

Your Brat summer will not be complete without these songs, so we’ve created this ultimate brat summer playlist based on Charli XCX’s new album!

It is officially a Brat summer. With Charli XCX’s new album Brat topping the charts at number 3, and the “Apple” dance going viral on TikTok, it is clear that Charli XCX has made this HER summer. But now that Brat has been released, what are some other songs to add to your Brat summer playlist and broaden your musical horizons? Here is your ultimate Brat summer playlist.

Rush

“Rush” may feel like an obvious song, given how ridiculously popular it was at its initial release, however, given Troye Sivan and Charli XCX’s past collaborations and their upcoming tour together, this song HAD to be included. “Rush” is also one of Troye Sivan’s songs that most matches Charli XCX’s more electronic and hyper rhythms. Also, you watch that music video and tell me “Rush” isn’t one of the songs of the summer, every summer, until the end of time. If you want to have a Brat summer, “Rush” is a necessity.

Xcxoplex (with Charli XCX

If you don’t like A.G. Cook, this playlist might not be for you. A.G. Cook is one of Charli XCX’s longest time collaborators, and has produced most of her music. “Xcxoplex” is a collaboration between the two released in 2021 and is still one of the A.G. Cook’s most popular release to this day, with almost 3 and a half million streams. What is a Charli XCX playlist without a Charli XCX and A.G. Cook collab?

Britpop

Britpop” is another one of the collaborations between Charli XCX and A.G. Cook on his album, fittingly named Britpop. The album also came out at the start of this summer in May. “Britpop” is also one of the most popular releases on the album with over 1.5 million streams in just a few months, along with the song “Lucifer” which, surprise surprise, is the other song on the album which Charli XCX worked on. Maybe A.G. Cook and Charli XCX just bring out the best work in the other, or maybe fans know what to look out for. (other songs to listen to by this artist: “2021”, “Beautiful Superstar”, “Soulbreaker”)

Party 4 u

Party 4 u” was released in 2020, so why is it being featured on the Brat summer playlist? “Party 4 u” was used in the Bottoms soundtrack last summer which, in a lot of ways, felt like the movie of the summer, giving this song a huge resurgence. The song is fun, light, and playful, making it the perfect summer song, and might feel like a nice break from the more intense songs featured on this playlist.

Snap My Finger (feat. PinkPantheress)

Pinkpantheress is the girl of the summer, and has been for the past few summers back to back. At least the British girl of the summer. Pinkpantheress only started releasing music in 2021 and now has almost 17 Million monthly listeners on Spotify. It is only now that Charli XCX has exploded back on the scene that she has been given a run for her money. But we’re at a point now where we’re done pitting successful women against each other, so here is Pinkpantheress on this Charli XCX playlist. “Snap My Finger” was released by KAYTRANADA on their new album in June of this year, and consequently now has over 7 million streams. The song is a perfect mix of KAYTRANADA’s trademark catchy electronic beats and Pinkpantheress’ sing-songy beautiful voice.

Honey- Mura Masa Euphoria Remix

You should know well enough that just one Troye Sivan song is never enough for any playlist. Especially not when Troye Sivan just released a few bangers at the start of the summer. Troye Sivan released the song “Honey” in May of this year, along with 4 different versions of that same song. “The Euphoria Remix” rings the most true to Charli XCX’s fashion. With quick electronic beats and the steady building of tension, this song is club ready, and summer ready. It will surely be featured in Troye Sivan and Charli XCX’s tour set, along with “Rush”, and the rest of the Brat album.

Starburned and Unkissed

Caroline Polachek has collaborated with Charli XCX in the past. Caroline Polachek was featured on the song “Tears”, in Charli XCX’s 2017 album Pop 2, and on the song “New Shapes” on the 2022 album CRASH, which also featured Christine and the Queens(listen to the song “Tilted” by Christine and the Queens, just trust me on this).

Caroline Polachek is a ridiculously talented artist and has released a myriad of fantastic songs, but “Starburned and Unkissed” is the one chosen to feature on this playlist because it is her latest release and came out at the beginning of the summer, but it is also a part of the I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack, which in a way is also a soundtrack of the summer. It features so many amazing artists such as Florist, Jay Som, and even Phoebe Bridgers that  it is also a must-listen-to in its own right. (other songs to listen to by this artist: “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings”, “Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In My Mouth”)

The girl, so confusing version with lorde

This Lorde and Charli XCX collaboration might not have been on most people’s 2024 musical bingo but boy am I glad it happened. Charli XCX released “The girl, so confusing version with lorde” just a few weeks after Brat was released in June, and it is a new version of the song “Girl, so confusing” on Brat, but now, with Lorde, so even better. Lorde has been known to make summer hits, with her entire summer album Solar Power in August of 2021. Even if you don’t love the song, the sheer fact that two such iconic female artists collaborated is enough to put this on the ultimate Brat summer playlist. So deal with it.

Guess

This song was included in this playlist because it is a violent crime that it wasn’t part of the original Brat album. Charli XCX released “Guess” on her technical second album of the summer: Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not. “Guess” is exciting, contagious, and a great pregame song. It was also immediately embraced by fans as a piece to the Brat summer puzzle, and you should too.

Aggy

Aggy” is the song released at the beginning of the summer by the pop duo Coco & Clair Clair. These girls have a unique style while somehow making every song they release the catchiest thing you’ve ever heard. If you’re talking about Charli XCX, you can’t leave out another dynamic girl group who took this summer by storm with their new release, and their electronic beats and instantly recognizable, almost apathetic singing voices fit perfectly into this playlist. (other songs to listen to by this artist: “Pop Star”, “8 AM”, “Crushcrushcrush”, “Love Me”)
