Chappell Roan has officially dropped her latest single, The Giver, marking her first new music since last year’s hit song Good Luck, Babe!.
Inspired by classic country-pop anthems like Big & Rich’s Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) and Alan Jackson’s Chattahoochee, The Giver delivers Chappell Roan’s signature theatrical flair with a country twist. The track, produced by Daniel Nigro, is now available to stream.
“I have such a special place in my heart for country music,” Chappell Roan shared in a press release. “I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bonfires, grocery stores, and karaoke bars.” Addressing speculation about a full country album, she added, “My answer is… right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun. “The Giver” is my take on cuntry xoxo. May the classic country divas lead their genre—I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y’all.”
Fans got their first taste of “The Giver” when Chappell Roan debuted it during her performance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last year. Taking the stage in a pink gingham leather ensemble by designer Zana Bayne—her own spin on traditional cowboy buckskins—Chappell Roan performed in front of a green screen featuring a whimsical scene of a giant tree and dancing woodland creatures. She was backed by a full band, including a fiddle player, all dressed in matching western shirts.
This week, Chappell Roan appeared on the Country Heat Weekly podcast to discuss the song and clarify its significance. “I wrote a country song not to invade country music, but to really capture what I think the essence of country music is for me,” she explained. “It’s nostalgia, fun in the summertime, the fiddle, and the banjo feeling like country queen. It makes me feel a certain type of freedom that pop music doesn’t let me feel.”
Chappell Roan’s latest success comes on the heels of her win for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where she also performed “Pink Pony Club” from her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. During her acceptance speech, she took the opportunity to advocate for healthcare reform in the music industry.
As Chappell Roan continues to carve out her own path in the industry, “The Giver” showcases her ability to blend genres while staying true to her unique artistic vision. Fans can stream the song now and decide for themselves if this country-infused hit signals a new chapter for the rising star.
