Celine Dion Warns Fans About Fake AI-Generated Songs

Celine Dion is urging fans to stay vigilant against AI-generated music falsely claiming to feature her voice, a growing issue within the entertainment industry.

The legendary singer took to Instagram on Saturday to address the issue, revealing that unauthorized, AI-generated tracks mimicking her musical performances, name, and likeness have been circulating online.

“Please be advised that these recordings are fake and not approved, and are not songs from her official discography,” Celine Dion wrote in her post. While she didn’t name specific songs, the use of AI in music has become a contentious topic within the industry.

In April 2024, over 200 artists, including Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Katy Perry, and Jon Bon Jovi, signed an open letter organized by the Artist Rights Alliance. The letter called on AI developers and music platforms to stop using artificial intelligence in ways that infringe upon artists’ rights, including deepfakes, voice cloning, and the unauthorized use of original works for AI training.

Celine Dion, 56, recently made a highly anticipated return to the stage after stepping away due to Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle spasms and rigidity. She first revealed her diagnosis in December 2022 and has since undergone intensive therapy to manage the condition.

In July 2024, she delivered a stunning performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, singing Edith Piaf’s classic “Hymne à l’Amour” from atop the Eiffel Tower.

With AI posing new challenges for musicians worldwide, Celine Dion’s warning serves as a reminder to fans to rely only on official sources for her music.
