Celebrities React To Their 2021 Grammy Nominations

The Grammy Awards recognize some of the biggest musical achievements in the industry. Comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah will host the 2021 GRAMMYs for the first time. The red-carpet season kicks off next year with the 63rd annual Grammys, and the full list of nominations was just announced! Nominees for the performance ceremony were revealed Tuesday, Nov. 24, just in time for the week of thanks.

Beyonce ranks at the top of the list with a total of nine nominations, followed by Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Roddy Rich, all of whom have earned six nominations each. Other top-charting artists like Doja Cat, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, and Justin Bieber have also received several slots in several different categories. Not all of these musicians reacted to the news online, but the ones on this list made it clear they were happily surprised.

One of the most popular celebrity reactions was from “Savage” rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The 25-year-old singer was one of the presenters for the Recording Academy’s livestream reading of the nomination list. The songwriter presented the nominees for Best Global Music Album right before Harvey Mason Jr., President of The Recording Academy, surprised Meg Thee Stallion with the news of her Grammy nominations.

Meg’s raw reaction to hearing her first-ever Grammy nod was watched by thousands and has since become a widely shared video on the Internet. Her “Savage Remix” with Beyoncé is up for Record of the Year as well as Best Rap Performance and Song.

English pop singer Dua Lipa was another major artist who presented some Grammy nominations. The 25-year-old singer appeared after Meg The Stallion to read several categories. And just like the previous celeb, Dua was surprised by the Recording Academy president with news of her nominations.

When she finished presenting Best Historical Album, Mason thanked the young musician and “before letting her go,” congratulated her for the Grammy nods. In shock, the pop artist couldn’t help but say, “you’re joking.” Among those six nominations, the “Don’t Start Now” singer has a chance of winning Best Pop Vocal Album.

Of course, Dua took to Twitter to express her excitement and disbelief. She also shared a “behind-the-scenes” video from when she found out the total number of nominations she’s received.

Dua Lipa is also the anticipated musical guest for Saturday Night Live on Dec. 19, hosted by Kristen Wiig.

Singer and songwriter Noah Cyrus launched her music career with her debut single, “Make Me,” in 2016. Now the 20-year-old daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and little sis of Miley Cyrus is up for Best New Artist. In an Instagram post, the musician shows followers her genuine reaction and the phone call between her and her dad. However, it was her mom that broke the news over FaceTime!

“This is such an honor, and I am in utter shock. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart I truly can’t believe it my mind is going a thousand miles a minute, and I am beyond grateful and full of love and gratitude,” Cyrus wrote in a post. “I know my grandma is looking down on me, and this is from her. Thank you mammie I wish you could be here for this.”

Beloved Korean boy band BTS received their first Grammy nomination under Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit song, “Dynamite.” They’re also the first K-pop group to ever receive a Grammy Award nomination.

BTS appeared in an interview with James Corden the day after the list was shared. During the virtual sit-down, The Late Late Show host aired a video showing some of the band members’ responses to the achievement. From jumping up and shouting “yea” to remaining speechless, all the members of BTS are thrilled about the nomination.

R&B duo Chloe x Halle had one of the sweetest reactions to their Grammy bid! The dynamic singing sisters are nominated in three categories, all in the genre of R&B. The sisters thanked their fans and listeners for giving their music so much love in a Tweet from their professional account.

Chloe x Halle also posted a short, muted clip/boomerang of their reaction on Instagram, which received a lot of love from fellow celebs like Zendaya.

“Real life footage of us finding out the news about our three grammy nominations for #ungodlyhour,” the caption started.

The last reaction on the list is from award-winning singer and songwriter Taylor Swift. The 30-year-old musician racked a total of six nominations, including Album of the Year for Folklore.

Swift posted a photo of herself drinking a glass of wine while Facetiming Jack Antonoff and video chatting Jonathan Low and Aaron Dessner, all of whom helped the singer produce the hit album.

T-Swift fans also know the artist surprised fans and Disney+ subscribers with a music documentary/intimate concert movie titled Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. In the nearly 2-hour film, Swift performs every song from her recent album and discusses the creative process behind it all.
