Peacock marked the U.S. premiere of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy with an exclusive screening and red carpet event at Jazz at Lincoln Center on February 12. The celebration continued with an after-party at the Ascent Lounge, offering stunning views of Columbus Circle and Central Park.
The evening paid tribute to the beloved Bridget Jones franchise, which is approaching its 25th anniversary. Attendees included leading actress and executive producer Renée Zellweger, along with co-stars Leo Woodall and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Director Michael Morris and author/executive producer Helen Fielding also graced the event. Prior to the screening, Renée Zellweger, Helen Fielding, and other cast members expressed their excitement about bringing the film to U.S. audiences.
The event drew an impressive guest list, with actors Sarah Solemani and Dolly Wells joining other notable attendees, including Cassandra Freeman (Bel-Air), Dolores Catania (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Carole Radziwill (The Real Housewives of New York City), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), Bessie Carter (Bridgerton), and Chloe Lukasiak (Dance Moms).
Renée Zellweger reprises her iconic role as Bridget Jones, the quintessential romantic comedy heroine. Based on Helen Fielding’s novel, the film follows Bridget as she navigates single motherhood after the loss of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Juggling work, parenting, and the pressures of modern dating, she finds herself caught between a new romance with a younger man (Leo Woodall) and interactions with her son’s pragmatic teacher (Chiwetel Ejiofor).
The cast also features Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones, and Isla Fisher in a new role as Bridget’s neighbor. Directed by Michael Morris, the screenplay was penned by Helen Fielding with contributions from Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer. The film is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, with Universal Pictures, StudioCanal, and Miramax handling its release.
Following the worldwide success of previous installments—Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), and Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016)—this latest chapter continues the story of one of cinema’s most beloved characters.
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy streams exclusively on Peacock on February 13th in the U.S. and will be released internationally in theaters by Universal Pictures.
