Bleecker Street has secured North American distribution rights for the upcoming horror film The Third Parent, a chilling new entry into the genre starring Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover, and Roselyn Sanchez.
The film, directed and written by David Michaels in his feature debut, is based on the viral creepypasta series by Elias Witherow. Set against the backdrop of a Fourth of July celebration, the story follows a sinister figure known as Tommy Taffy, who disguises himself as a human to infiltrate a suburban neighborhood and enforce his authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family.
Bleecker Street executives Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson expressed excitement about the film, particularly highlighting Glover’s portrayal of the terrifying antagonist. “Crispin Glover’s Tommy Taffy will be the next great horror villain. With Gary’s incredible track record as a producer and David’s strong vision, anchored by Rob Lowe and Roselyn Sanchez’s compelling performances, we believe this will be a singular and terrifying theatrical experience,” they stated.
The film is produced by Gary Michael Walters (Whiplash, Nightcrawler) for Walters Media Group, which retains ownership of the intellectual property. Additional producers include Rob Lowe himself, Spencer Young for Enfant Terrible, and Jonathan Halperyn and Daniel Kresmery for Hero Squared. Executive producers on the project include Jack Roberts for Lesnik Entertainment, Drake Dowd and Kristen Gilot-Dowd for Dowd Films, and Karpen and Sanderson for Bleecker Street.
Rob Lowe, known for his roles in The West Wing, Parks and Recreation, and 9-1-1: Lone Star, also recently produced and hosted Fox’s game show The Floor. Crispin Glover, famous for his work in the Back to the Future franchise and American Gods, takes on the role of the film’s menacing villain. Roselyn Sanchez, celebrated for her performances in Fantasy Island, Devious Maids, and Rush Hour 2, adds her talents to the cast as well.
With a strong creative team and an eerie premise rooted in internet folklore, The Third Parent is shaping up to be a must-watch horror film for genre fans. Stay tuned for more details on its upcoming theatrical release.
